長友佑都の“対抗馬"候補、旗手怜央を日本代表に!/六川亨の日本サッカー見聞録

今シーズンのJ1リーグで、ACLを始めすべてのタイトルの可能性を残しているのは名古屋だけだ。前年王者の川崎Fはルヴァン杯で2試合ともドローながらアウェーゴールで浦和に屈し、ACLでもPK戦で蔚山現代に敗れた。そのACLで舞台となった韓国から帰国後、新型コロナウイルスによるバブルでの隔離を強いられながら、中3日や中2日の過密日程でも5連勝を飾った。

9月29日の神戸戦では、アンドレス・イニエスタ、大迫勇也、武藤嘉紀のトリオによる先制点を許しながら、後半は3連続ゴールであっさりと逆転。勝点を78に伸ばし、2位の横浜F・マリノスとは1試合消化試合が多いものの勝点差12として首位を堅持している。残りは7試合となり、川崎Fの連覇はほぼ間違いないだろう。

その神戸戦で、改めて存在感を示したのが[4-3-3]の右インサイドハーフに入った旗手怜央だ。攻守に豊富な運動量で貢献し、GKへのプレスで決勝点となるオウンゴールのきっかけを作ったり、ペナルティエリア内で巧みなヒールキックから家長昭博の3点目をアシストしたりした。
これは元々から旗手のタレントなのか、それとも川崎Fの伝統なのか判断は難しいが、“状況判断の速さ"によるポジショニングの良さは秀逸だ。本来は攻撃的なサイドハーフだが、今シーズンは左サイドバック(SB)を始め、サイドハーフやボランチなどマルチな才能で川崎Fの躍進に貢献している。現代サッカーではGKやCB、1トップといった“専門職"をのぞけば、どのポジションでもプレーできるのが常識だが、それを実践しているお手本と言えるだろう。

その旗手、今夏の東京五輪ではグループリーグのフランス戦ではスタメンでフル出場を果たすなど5試合に出場した。今シーズンの川崎でもケガがあったものの23試合に出場し、4ゴールをあげている。
そこで本題である。昨シーズンのJ1リーグ優勝に貢献し、今夏の東京五輪でも存在感を発揮した旗手と、今夏移籍した三笘薫をなぜ森保一監督は日本代表が窮地にもかかわらず招集しないのだろうか。29日の神戸戦を取材して、改めて感じた疑問である。

Jリーグがスタートしてから、日本代表の左SBは都並敏史氏(ブリオベッカ浦安監督)、相馬直樹氏(鹿島監督)三都主アレサンドロ氏、駒野友一氏(FC今治)ら右利きの選手もいたがレフティー特有のアーリークロスを得意としている選手が名前を連ねていた。その系譜に現在の長友佑都がいる。

しかし、彼の後継者探しは長年の課題ともなっている。森保監督になってから代表に招集されているベテランの佐々木翔(広島)は“努力の選手"として称えたいが、国際舞台で戦えるインターナショナルの選手ではないと個人的に思っている。中山雄太は将来が期待されているものの、これも個人的な意見として安定感に不安を残す。

長友自身は「日本代表は若手選手を育てる場ではないんで」と言っていた。その意見には100%賛成だ。しかし代表監督は、そうしたベテランに“対抗馬"となる若手選手をぶつけ、切磋琢磨させるべきではないだろうか。

佐々木も中山も長友の対抗馬としては荷が重い。そこで推したいのが、旗手である。何よりも彼の技術の高さに加え、判断力の速さ・的確さによるゲームコントロールの巧さは群を抜いている。いますぐに長友の後継者になれるかどうかは別にして、いま一番長友に近いのは旗手ではないか。そう思った神戸との試合だった。

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン

まるで日本人!? イニエスタファミリー、桜が恋しくなったインスタ投稿が話題「いつでも歓迎」「忘れないでいてくれてありがとう」

来日5年‥家族も2人増えたイニエスタの妻が改めて心境を綴る「この冒険を一緒に生き続けることは光栄です!」

「言われて気付きました」田中碧が鈴木愛理さんへの“縦読み”投稿を否定!?文言はすでに削除

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン

BE:FIRSTがアンバサダー就任の「FILA」、かつては中田英寿氏も同ブランドのスパイクを着用
