前回大会はベスト8まで勝ち上がったものの、今回はグループステージ涙をのむことになったウルグアイ。その最終戦では2-0でガーナに勝利したものの、ポルトガルを2-1で破った韓国に総得点で抜かれ、逆転で敗退を喫することになった。
率いたのはかつてモンテレイやパチューカをメキシコ王者に導いた実績を持つディエゴ・アロンソ監督。メキシコとウルグアイの二重国籍で、今年1月からセレステを指揮していた。
主将のディエゴ・ゴディンは同監督の続投を支持するコメントを残しているが、やはりグループステージ敗退の責任は大きく、協会はすでに後任を据える動きをまとめつつあるようだ。

“鬼才”ビエルサの右腕として活躍したコルベラン氏がオリンピアコスの監督に就任

降格のリーズがクラブ買収で合意 新オーナーのもとでPL復帰を期す

サプライヤーなしのウルグアイ代表が新ユニフォームを発表!男女平等促進のため紫色も取り入れた史上初のデザインに

「めっちゃ可愛い」「結構ビックリ!」乃木坂46の元メンバーが日本代表戦を6万人のスタジアムで観戦「生で観る臨場感はものすごい」
