DCユナイテッドを率いるウェイン・ルーニー監督が自身のコスプレを披露した熱狂的なファンに反応している。

現役時代にはマンチェスター・ユナイテッドやエバートンなどで活躍したルーニー氏。イングランド代表通算53ゴールは史上最多だ。

そんなルーニー氏を巡っては2003年に1枚の写真が話題に。妻のコリーンさんとポルトガルで休暇を過ごしている際、道端で真っ赤な巨大キャンディを頬張るルーニー氏の姿がパパラッチされていた。

時が経った今も度々取り上げられるシュールな1枚だが、なんと今年のハロウィンで“巨大キャンディを舐めるルーニー”の仮装をするアレックス・ウィリアムソンさんという人物が現れた。

キャンディは赤いラバーカップ(スッポン)で見立てるなどお世辞にもクオリティが高いわけではなかったが、その発想はSNSで大きな注目を浴び、ツイッターでの投稿は3万いいねを超える反響が生まれた。

その結果、ルーニー氏本人の目にも届いたようで、「よく頑張った」と爆笑の絵文字を添えて反応している。

なお、イギリス『LAD BIBLE』によるとアレックスさんは「ルーニーは、ピッチ上だけでなく、ピッチ外でのファッションも私のアイコンでした」とルーニー氏の大ファンだったようだ。
