◆川崎フロンターレと対戦したら驚く結果を残す

ベルギー代表は、フェルマーレンを始め、トビー・アルデルヴァイレルト、ヤン・フェルトンゲンとディフェンスラインの高齢化が懸念されている。しかし、フェルマーレンは問題がないとコメント。Jリーグで揉まれていることで調子は良いと語った。

「トレーニング中でも、全ての試合に勝ちたいと思う。僕はまだピッチで燃えているよ。そして、そこに立ちたいという衝動はまだある。それがなくなったと気付いた時に、辞めることを考えるよ。でも、現時点ではノーだ」

「僕は調子が良い。ソファで横になっているわけではないよ。多くの人は日本のリーグを知らないけど、日々ここでテストされている」

「日本のサッカー選手はソリッドで、スピーディで、とてもテクニックがある。ヨーロッパの状況と比較するのは難しいけど、首位の川崎フロンターレがベルギーのトップチームと対戦したとしたら、誰もが驚く結果になる可能性はあるよ」

一方で、チームはアンドレス・イニエスタやセルジ・サンペールといったバルセロナ出身の選手がおり、大きな期待を寄せられながらも現在は11位と低迷。この件については難しいとコメント。また、2022年までの契約も延長しても良いと考えていることを明かした。

「それは難しいことだね。とにかくやってみるけど、ここは難しいリーグだ。特に今シーズンは、コロナの危機で誰も降格されることがなく、誰もがチャンスを与えられている」

「そうすると、とても不思議な試合をすることがある。個人的には、天皇杯優勝とスーパーカップで勝った後、もっと良いものを想像していたし、野心は高かった。11位は誇りに思うことはできない」

「もちろんだ。ここに居ることは好きだし、慎重に考えたいと思う。生活、文化、僕たちはここが本当に好きだ」

「スペインより日本の方が長い」来日5年のイニエスタが8歳長男の誕生日を祝福!「お父さんにそっくり」
