アフリカ熟知のルナール氏、今夏アルジェリア代表監督就任へ? パリ五輪後のフランス女子代表退任が濃厚

アルジェリアサッカー協会(FAF)が、空席となったA代表指揮官の座にエルヴェ・ルナール氏(55)招へいを目論んでいるという。

FAFは24日、アフリカ・ネーションズカップ(CAN)でグループステージ敗退を喫したアルジェリア代表のジャメル・ベルマディ監督(47)を解任したと発表。2大会ぶり優勝を目指したなか、アンゴラ代表、ブルキナファソ代表、モーリタニア代表と、格下相手に1勝もできず大会を去った。2018年から長期政権を敷いた元代表選手を更迭したなか、フランス『RMC Sport』によると、後任候補の最有力がルナール氏。ロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)でモロッコ代表を率い、美しき白シャツダンディー指揮官として、選手をも凌ぐスーパースターと化したフランス人指導者だ。

2019年7月にモロッコ代表を退任後は、すぐさまサウジアラビア代表指揮官に就任し、カタールW杯で同大会王者に輝くアルゼンチン代表を撃破。昨年2月にはフランス女子代表指揮官となり、オーストラリア・ニュージーランド共催女子W杯2023でベスト8。現在も同職に就く。

フランス女子代表の契約を自国開催となる今夏のパリ五輪まで残すなか、五輪後の契約延長は議題に上がっていないとのこと。過去にザンビア代表とコートジボワール代表でアフリカ制覇を経験しているルナール氏は、今のところパリ五輪後にアルジェリア代表指揮官となる公算が強いようだ。

ルナール氏に候補を一本化する可能性もあるとされるアルジェリア側の対応としては、パリ五輪閉幕までに2026年W杯のアフリカ予選があるものの、正式な後任を置かず、暫定指揮官でやり過ごしていく可能性もあるとみられている。

なお、ルナール氏は2011年、アルジェリアを代表する強豪のUSMアルジェを率いた経験を持つ。
