7日のUEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)・リーグB・グループ2第1節でアイルランド代表とのアウェイ戦に臨んだイングランド。デクラン・ライスとジャック・グリーリッシュのゴールで2点を先行するなかで、守りも乱れず、2-0で勝利した。

ガレス・サウスゲイト体制から舵を切り、その第一歩を託されたのがカーズリー暫定監督。試合後の『ITV』で「部分ごと」の出来に満足感を示しつつ、選手の頑張りを労っている。

「部分的に良かった。我々がやろうとすることのいくつかはみなさんもご覧になれたと思うし、選手たちはすべての称賛を受けるべきだ。ここに真の才能があるのを示したし、クリーンシートにも本当に満足している」

そんなイングランドで注目されたのがユーロ2024での落選から復帰のジャック・グリーリッシュ。26分にデクラン・ラインの折り返しから右足ダイレクトで追加点をマークした。

復帰即ゴールで存在感をアピールした28歳MFだが、暫定指揮官は改めて力を証明する必要などないとし、この活躍が今後も続けばと期待している。

“元アイルランド代表選手” リー・カーズリーはイングランド代表正指揮官に昇格なるか「手腕を示す素晴らしい機会にしてほしい」

元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。 FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。また、イングランド国内の地元出身のコーチの育成にも携わる予定だという。 2025.05.15 16:30 Thu

ユーロ予選に臨むイングランド女子、19歳GKキーティングがヒザ負傷で離脱…シティでは全試合に出場中

W杯予選イングランドvsハンガリーのスタンドで暴動、逮捕者6名を出す事態に
