マンチェスター・ユナイテッド行き噂のダン・アシュワース氏(52)には、信頼する“右腕”がいる。イギリス『サン』が伝えている。

ユナイテッドのジム・ラトクリフ氏が新たなスポーツ・ディレクター(SD)としてニューカッスルからの引き抜きを目指しているアシュワース氏。ブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン時代に日本代表MF三笘薫の獲得を先導した人物だ。

そんなアシュワース氏、一部ではすでにユナイテッド行きに同意しているとの報道もあるなか、ブライトン時代に共闘したスコットランド人スカウト、カイル・マコーレー氏(37)を右腕として呼び寄せる考えだという。
マコーレー氏は現役時代にアバディーンなどでプレーも、2010年に24歳でプロキャリアを切り上げ、学業に専念。北欧スウェーデンで分析官としてキャリアを拓き、スウォンジーを経由してブライトンへ。当時のグレアム・ポッター監督がチェルシーへ引き抜かれたのを機に、現在もチェルシーに残ってスカウトとして勤務する。

また、ユナイテッドはチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)のイプスウィッチ・タウンでテクニカル・ディレクター(SD)を務めるサム・ウィリアムズ氏(36)もリクルート班で招へいする方向。同氏は元々ユナイテッドの下部組織でスカウトを務めていた人物だ。

「高価な食べ物はない」ギネス記録樹立、C・ロナウドのあの肉体の秘訣を専属シェフが明かす

「ボートで来たのか?」C・ロナウドとブルーノの握手拒否騒動の裏側をチームメイトが明かす「彼らの間での冗談」

逮捕・有罪判決・控訴から3年半…ギリシャでの“マグワイア事件”がうやむや消滅へ?

マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのイングランド代表DFハリー・マグワイア。汚名を晴らすための控訴審が再開されない可能性もあるようだ。イギリス『サン』が伝えている。 マグワイアは2020年8月、休暇で訪れたギリシャのリゾート地・ミコノス島にて、他の観光客との間で口論となったことが発端となり、警察官への暴行容疑で地元当局に逮捕され、また警察官への贈収賄容疑でも起訴された。 この事件は、逮捕4日後に21カ月10日の禁固刑(執行猶予付き)という有罪判決が下り、全面無罪を主張するマグワイア側はすぐに控訴を発表した。 一連の事件については、マグワイアの妹が現場となったナイトクラブでレイプ被害に遭う寸前だったという証言があるなど、不可解な点も多く、一概にマグワイアとその兄弟、また友人たちに非があるとは言えない状況。当時、釈放されたマグワイアは「自分たちが被害者であり、暴行を受けた側」と主張している。 事件から3年半、すでに執行猶予期間も終えているなか、控訴審は未だ決着しておらず、現時点で1年以上何も進展がない状況。経済状況の良くないギリシャでは、現在“弁護士組合”がストライキを実施…少なくとも2025年3月まで再審を開けないという。 また、ギリシャは時の政権による財政赤字の隠蔽が2010年に明るみとなって以降、観光業が国家経済を支える重要な柱でありながら、治安が急速に悪化し、ツーリストを狙った窃盗事件も日常茶飯事に。 こういった背景もあるのか、ギリシャの当局者は、“マグワイア事件”が続くことによって観光業全体にさらなる悪影響が出る可能性を考慮し、この事件の追及に消極的であるとのこと。汚名を晴らしたいマグワイア側の意向は不明だが、うやむやにして二度と再審を開かない可能性もあるとされている。 2024.02.11 16:45 Sun
