元イングランド代表FWのピーター・クラウチ氏がファンを楽しませている。現役時代、その2m超えの長身や“ロボット・ダンス”のゴールパフォーマンスでも知られたクラウチ氏。SNSではイギリス人らしいユーモア満載の投稿が好評を博している。

そのクラウチ氏は、18日にも自身のツイッターを更新。カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)の決勝で生まれたゴールに乗っかった。
クラウチ氏が反応したのは、フランスの2点目の場面。81分にマルクス・テュラムとのパス交換からボックス左のキリアン・ムバッペが見事なボレーを叩き込んだシーンだ。

ムバッペが倒れ込みながらもうまく捉えた見事なシュートだったが、クラウチ氏は「ムバッペのゴールは信じられないが、私は2006年にこんなことをやっていたよ」とし、同じような体勢からシュートを放つ瞬間の画像を自慢げに投稿した。
しかし、2006年のドイツW杯、トリニダード・トバゴ戦でクラウチ氏が放ったこのシュートは捉えきれず、枠外に飛んでいたという事実が発覚。これはクラウチ氏の自虐的な投稿であり、理解したファンは「煽りかと思ったら自虐ネタかい」、「面白過ぎる」、「SNSの使い方面白い」、「クラウチ最高」とW杯の余韻を楽しんでいた。

イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

「泣きながら電話した」アルコール依存症に苦しむ元イングランド代表ガスコイン氏が家を出て居候に、それでも闘病に決意「戦い続ける」

元イングランド代表のポール・ガスコイン氏が近況を明かしている。イギリス『デイリー・メール』が伝えている。 ニューカッスルで現役をスタートさせ、トッテナムやラツィオ、レンジャーズなどでプレーしたガスコイン氏。イングランド代表でも1990年のワールドカップや96年のユーロに出場するなど通算57試合の出場数を誇り、“ガッザ”の愛称で人気を集めていた。 トロフィーこそ掲げられなかったものの、数々の個人賞を獲得し2002年に引退。しかし、その後は酒に溺れ、度々暴力事件などの問題を起こすことに。長年アルコール依存症との戦いを続けている。 そのガスコイン氏が、『High Performance Originals』というポッドキャストに出演し、自身の近況を語っている。 「昔は幸せな酔っ払いだったが、今は違う。悲しい酔っ払いだ。外に飲みに行かず、室内で飲むんだ」 「ポール・ガスコインは誰もが知っているけど、ガッザは誰も知らない。時に僕でさえね。靭帯を痛め、ヒザを痛め、4年間サッカーができなかった。(それがなければイングランド代表として)100キャップは到達しただろう」 「なるべく落ち込まないようにしている。本当に落ち込んだときは、自分を励ますためだけに飲むようにしている」 「監督や選手、ファンを失望させたとは思っていない。失望させたとしたら、それは自分自身だ。でも、プレーを終えた後は、酒を飲むことのほうが多かった」 今なおアルコール依存症に苦しむガスコイン氏だが、その影響からかパブでサッカーを観ることはほとんどしていないようだ。 「嫌な一日にしたければ、(必要なのは)パブに行くことだけだ。いい日にしたいなら、竿を取り出して釣りに行くんだ」 「酒を飲むことではなく、飲んだ後が問題なんだ。酒を飲んだ後に携帯を見ると、30件のメッセージや不在着信があって、問題が起きたと思う。でも、今はもう大丈夫だ。去年は2、3ヶ月間、飲んだり飲まなかったりで、あまりいい年じゃなかった」 そして、今はアルコールの代わりにモカやコーヒーを摂取するようにしているとのこと。モカは1日で15パックも消費するという。 「本当に簡単なことで、なるべく近寄らないようにしているだけなんだ。飲み物を飲むとしたら、飲みたいから飲むだけで、特別な理由があるわけじゃない。酒を飲んでいた頃は、たくさんの人のせいにしていた。『あいつがあんなことをしたからだ』『こんなことになったから』とね」 また、ガスコイン氏は身近な人からも支えられているようで、今はホームレスだが、自身の代理人の家に居候させてもらいながら、講演などをして闘病を続けているようだ。 「数年前の11月に、泣きながらケイティ(代理人)に電話したんだ」 「(講演では)自分自身のことや他の人たちに何をさせたか、刑務所に入ったり、リハビリ施設に入ったり、便座からコカインを取ったりして、そして国の大使になれと言われたときは笑っていいのか泣いていいのかわからなかったというような話をする」 「このような場では、サッカーの話はほとんどしない。私は観客を笑わせなければならないからね。ステージで泣いたことも何度かある。土曜日は、みんなを楽しませることが恋しくなるんだ」 「感情的になることもある。泣くのに時間はかからない。分かち合うべきことでも、人と分かち合うのが怖くなる。そのことを気にはしていないけど、私は大人になれないと思う」 「それでも、私は人々に与えたものを誇りに思っている。10個のチャリティ団体に100万ポンド(約1億9000万円)近くを寄付してきたんだ」 「諦めたことはない。諦めるのは、棺桶に入ったときだと思う。その時を除けば、私は戦い続けるだろう」 <span class="paragraph-title">【写真】アルコール依存症と戦い続けるガスコイン氏の今の姿</span> <span data-other-div="movie"></span> <blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink="https://www.instagram.com/p/C4Kz-2WI6l2/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading" data-instgrm-version="14" style=" background:#FFF; イングランド代表が新ユニフォームを発表、赤ではなくなったアウェイは賛否分かれる「初めてじゃないか?」「そのチョイスはなしだ」
