元ドイツ代表MFのローター・マテウス氏は、母国のカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)決勝トーナメント進出を信じているようだ。

20日から開催されたカタールW杯のグループE初戦で、日本代表相手にまさかの敗戦を喫したドイツ。試合後には痛烈な非難を浴びることになったが、続くスペイン代表戦では先制を許しながらもFWニクラス・フュルクルクのゴールで追いつき、1-1のドローに終わった。

これにより、ドイツは12月1日に行われるグループE最終節のコスタリカ代表戦に勝利した場合、同時刻に開催される日本vsスペインの結果次第で決勝トーナメント進出が決定する状況となっている。
運命の最終節を控えるチームだが、マテウス氏は選手たちがスペイン戦で復調したと確信している模様だ。ドイツ『スカイ』で同氏はハンジ・フリック監督の采配を称え、コスタリカ戦は必ず勝利を掴めるはずだと期待した。

「ドイツは序盤からカウンターで何度もスペインを困らせた。ゴール前でもゴールキーパーや守備陣が良いプレーを見せたね。ニクラス・ジューレも、失点までは良くやっていた。失点時はポジショニングを少し間違え、相手の前に入るのが間に合わなかったのだと思う。ただ、それ以外は良いパフォーマンスで、日本戦よりずっと存在感があった」
「スペイン戦の結果は、チームにこれからの課題に対する強さ、エネルギー、自信を与えてくれただろう。そして、選手たちに意欲をもたらしてくれたのだ」

リバプール退任決定のクロップ監督、休養希望もドイツ代表が招へいに動く?

リバプールの退任が決定しているユルゲン・クロップ監督(56)だが、すでにオファーが届いているようだ。 9シーズンにわたってリバプールを率いてきたクロップ監督は、これまでチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)やプレミアリーグ、クラブ・ワールドカップ(CWC)など多くのタイトルを獲得。今シーズンはすでにEFLカップ(カラバオカップ)を制しており、ここに来てやや失速もプレミアリーグでタイトルレースに参加するなど順調なシーズンを送っている。 しかし、クロップ監督は1月にエネルギーの枯渇を理由として、今シーズン限りでの退任を発表。リバプール退任後は休養する意向を明かしており、フットボール界への復帰については明言していない。 一方で、イギリス『ミラー』によると、ドイツサッカー連盟(DFB)が代表監督にクロップ監督の招へいを計画しているとのこと。ドイツ代表は現在指揮を執るユリアン・ナーゲルスマン監督にバイエルン行きの可能性があり、後任探しに着手しているという。 DFBはクロップ監督の希望も十分に理解しており、招へいを急いではいない模様。まずは現在ナーゲルスマン監督のアシスタントコーチを務めるサンドロ・ワグナー氏にチームを任せ、2025年からクロップ監督を招へいするプランも持っているようだ。 クロップ監督がどのような決断を下すかは不透明だが、もしドイツ代表が招へいに成功した場合、2026年の北中米ワールドカップでは稀代の名将が指揮を執る姿が見られるかもしれない。 2024.04.16 18:10 Tue

マテウスが5度目の離婚…結婚時は「最後の妻になることを願う」と語るも叶わず
