ベルギー『RTL』によると、アザールは22日にホームで行われたUEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)2022-23のリーグA・グループ4第5節のウェールズ代表戦後、レアル・マドリーで置かれた状況を問いただされると、フラストレーションをのぞかせたという。
「プレーがしたいっていう複雑な時期だ。プレーしたいのに、プレーできていないわけだから。でも、僕は全力を尽くすし、ピッチに立ちたい。レアル・マドリーでは良い感じでプレーできている」
「ただプレーの回数が少ないだけ。プレーできれば、うまくやれる。デリケートな状況だ。もっとプレーがしたいし、もっと貢献できる。リズムを取り戻せば、昔に戻れるけど、プレーするしかない」
アザールは2019年夏に夢だと語るレアル・マドリー移籍を鳴り物入りで果たしてから、今季で4年目。度重なる故障で大きく下げた評価はすぐに取り戻せず、今季のここまで限定的な出番が続いており、先発回数も出場した公式戦4試合でたったの1回しかない。
