ジエゴ・カルロスは2019年7月にナントからセビージャへと完全移籍で加入。センターバックの主力として公式戦136試合に出場し6ゴール1アシストを記録していた。加入1年目の2019-20シーズンにはヨーロッパリーグ(EL)制覇に貢献していた。

ブラジル代表には2020年に招集歴があるものの出場はなし。しかし、昨年の東京オリンピックにはオーバーエイジとして参加し、6試合に出場して金メダルを獲得していた。

アストン・ビラはバルセロナからレンタル移籍で加入していたブラジル代表MFフィリペ・コウチーニョを完全移籍で獲得した他、マルセイユからフランス代表MFブバカル・カマラ(22)を完全移籍で獲得しており、3人目の補強となる。

アストン・ビラがスタジアム改修をスタート、ユーロ2028の会場となり5万人収容に変貌へ
