アストン・ビラのイングランド代表DFタイロン・ミングスが、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)出場権獲得の喜びを語っている。
15日に行われたカタール・W杯欧州予選グループIの最終節でサンマリノ代表と対戦したイングランド。メンバーには、FWブカヨ・サカ(20)やMFエミール・スミス・ロウ(21)などの若手メンバーに加え、ミングスやMFカルヴァン・フィリップスなど代表キャップ数の少ない選手がメインで起用された。
すでにW杯への出場を決めている中で行われた試合は、DFハリー・マグワイアのヘディングゴールで幕を開けると、FWハリー・ケインの4得点やミングスの代表初ゴールなどで10-0の快勝。最後まで手を抜くことなく欧州予選を戦い抜いた。
試合後にイギリス『BBC Radio 5Live』のインタビューに応じたアストン・ビラDFは、若手選手が多く集うイングランド代表でのポジション争いについて語ると、それが成長につながるとし、本大会への期待を膨らませた。
「先日、僕らはポジション争いについて話していたんだ。それは、誰もが見て見ぬふりをするのではなく、僕らの成功につながるものであり、僕らの背中を押してくれるものだなんだ」

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」

イングランド代表が新ユニフォームを発表、赤ではなくなったアウェイは賛否分かれる「初めてじゃないか?」「そのチョイスはなしだ」
