アストン・ビラが痛恨のミスによってチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)初黒星を喫した。『ESPN』が伝えている。
アストン・ビラは6日、アウェイで行われたCLリーグフェーズ第4節でクラブ・ブルージュと対戦し、0-1で敗戦した。
バイエルンを撃破するなど開幕3連勝で首位に立っていたチームだったが、この試合では格下と思われたベルギーの強豪に苦戦。前半を0-0で終えると、後半立ち上がりに想定外のミスが発生。
アストン・ビラのリスタートの場面でGKエミリアーノ・マルティネスがボックス内ですぐそばにいたDFタイロン・ミングスにパスを繋ぐと、キックの瞬間を見ずにゴールキックと勘違いしたミングスはインプレーにも関わらず、ボールを手で扱ってゴールエリアのラインにセット。すると、ブルージュの選手のアピールで反則に気が付いた主審がハンドでのPKを宣告。
このPKをキッカーのMFハンス・ヴァナケンが冷静に蹴り込み、決勝点となるゴールを決めた。
同試合後、ウナイ・エメリ監督は「彼のミスは完全に奇妙だ。私のキャリアで目撃した最大のミスだ。人生でたった一度だけ、それが今日起きたことだ」と、イングランド代表DFのあまりに軽率なミスに開いた口が塞がらない様子だった。
なお、今回と同様のケースは昨シーズンのCL準々決勝のバイエルンとアーセナルの1レグでも発生。GKダビド・ラヤが同様の形で蹴り出したボールをDFガブリエウ・マガリャンイスが手を使って回収したが、その時にはPKは与えられず。当時のバイエルン指揮官であるトーマス・トゥヘルが「子供のミス」とPKを与えなかった主審を批判していた。
そういった経緯もあったか、同試合後にDFエズリ・コンサは「もしそれが故意のハンドなら、ミングスは2枚目のイエローカードを受けるべきだ。彼はすでにイエローカードを受けているのだから、それで退場させないのはなぜか? 試合を台無しにした」とイギリス『TNT』で主審の判定が誤ったものであったと主張している。
アーセナルが見逃されたケースと今回の判定の違いに関しては主審の解釈次第という部分はあったものの、ミングスのプレーが軽率だったことに間違いはない。
これで痛恨の公式戦連敗となったチームは、週末に控えるリバプールとのビッグマッチでバウンスバックを果たせるか。

バレンシアがバレネチェアを獲得…今夏ユーベからアストン・ビラに完全移籍
