アメリカで13歳の少年がプロデビューを果たした。メジャーリーグ・サッカー(MLS)公式サイトが伝えている。

現地時間9日、アメリカ2部のUSLチャンピオンシップでレアル・モナークスvsコロラドスプリングス・スイッチバックスFCの一戦が行われた。

この試合でベンチ入りしたレアル・モナークスのアクセル・ケイは、ゴールレスで迎えた61分、元アメリカ代表FWボビー・ウッド(28)に代わってピッチへ登場。13歳9カ月9日でのリーグ最年少出場記録を打ち立てるとともに、アメリカのチームスポーツにおける史上最年少の選手となった。

なお、MLSにおける最年少出場プレーヤーは元アメリカ代表FWフレディ・アドゥ。2004年にDCユナイテッドのプレーヤーとして14歳168日でピッチに立っている。

レアル・モナークスは、MLSに所属するレアル・ソルトレイクのリザーブチームとしての位置づけとなっており、順調に行けばケイはトップチームへと昇格、出場する可能性が高い。そのため、MLSでの最年少出場記録への期待も高まっているとのことだ。

女子選手の意見を参考に配慮し白パンツを中止、ナイキが女子W杯出場13カ国の新ユニフォームを発表!
