アメリカで13歳の少年がプロデビューを果たした。メジャーリーグ・サッカー(MLS)公式サイトが伝えている。
現地時間9日、アメリカ2部のUSLチャンピオンシップでレアル・モナークスvsコロラドスプリングス・スイッチバックスFCの一戦が行われた。
この試合でベンチ入りしたレアル・モナークスのアクセル・ケイは、ゴールレスで迎えた61分、元アメリカ代表FWボビー・ウッド(28)に代わってピッチへ登場。13歳9カ月9日でのリーグ最年少出場記録を打ち立てるとともに、アメリカのチームスポーツにおける史上最年少の選手となった。
なお、MLSにおける最年少出場プレーヤーは元アメリカ代表FWフレディ・アドゥ。2004年にDCユナイテッドのプレーヤーとして14歳168日でピッチに立っている。
レアル・モナークスは、MLSに所属するレアル・ソルトレイクのリザーブチームとしての位置づけとなっており、順調に行けばケイはトップチームへと昇格、出場する可能性が高い。そのため、MLSでの最年少出場記録への期待も高まっているとのことだ。

▽ハノーファーは9日、ハンブルガーSV(HSV)からアメリカ代表FWボビー・ウッド(25)を買取オプション付きのレンタル移籍で獲得した。なお、背番号は17を着用する。
▽1860ミュンヘンの下部組織で育ったウッドは、エルツェルビルゲ・アイエ、ウニオン・ベルリンを経て2016年7月にHSVへ加入。HSVでは、在籍2シーズンで公式戦57試合に出場し12ゴール2アシストをマーク。昨季はブンデスリーガで24試合に出場するも、わずか2ゴールにとどまり、チームもクラブ史上初の2部降格となった。
▽また、アメリカ代表としても2013年8月にデビュー。これまで39試合に出場し12得点を記録している。
▽ハノーファーへの加入が決まったウッドは、公式サイトで以下のように意気込みを語った。
