U-24韓国代表MFイ・ドンギョンが、国内外で物議を醸した“握手拒否”についてコメントした。韓国『朝鮮日報』が伝えている。22日、東京オリンピックの男子サッカー1次ラウンド・グループBでU-24ニュージーランド代表と対戦したU-24韓国代表。序盤からペースを握ったものの、70分にU-24ニュージーランド代表のFWクリス・ウッドに先制ゴールを許すと、そのままタイムアップ。初戦を黒星で終えることになった。

そして試合後、決勝点を挙げたウッドが互いの健闘を称え、FWファン・ウィジョと握手を交わす。その後、イ・ドンギョンの元へと向かい、手を差し伸べたものの、イ・ドンギョンはウッドの手を払い、憮然とした態度で拒否した。
この行為については、国内外のメディアでスポーツマンシップに欠ける行為だと批判の声が殺到していた。

そんな中、イ・ドンギョンは25日に行われたグループB第2戦のU-24ルーマニア代表戦に先発出場。59分にゴールにつながるミドルシュートを放つなど4-0の大勝に貢献した。
ルーマニア戦後のインタビューに応じたイ・ドンギョンは、ニュージーランド戦での自身の振る舞いについてコメントした。

「この試合までにしっかりと準備をした。ニュージーランド戦後の反省をたくさんした。たった1つの行動が国のイメージにまで影響を与えるということが分かった」

また、ルーマニア戦についてもコメント。自身のゴールにはならなかったものの、チームの勝利を喜び、決勝トーナメント進出を懸けた最終節のU-24ホンジュラス代表戦へ意気込んだ。

「ウム・ウォンサンに当たったシュートが僕のゴールにならなかったけど、問題ない。チームが勝利して嬉しい。ホンジュラス戦でも、今日のように強くプレッシャーをかければ良い結果がもたらされるだろう」

元G大阪FWファン・ウィジョがOA枠で参加! 東京五輪に臨むU-24韓国代表メンバーが発表

「BTSにいそう」韓国代表の“アイドル級イケメン”に脚光「神は二物を与えた」

「だから三流なんだ」ベスト16で敗退の韓国、ソン・フンミンの個人トレーナーが内情を暴露し不満「韓国サッカーに未来はない」
