ユーロ4強のイングランド、トリッピアーはチームに自信「自分たちの歴史を作りたい」

アトレティコ・マドリーのイングランド代表DFキーラン・トリッピアーが代表チームの成長に自信を示した。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が伝えている。

3日に行われたユーロ2020準々決勝で勝利を収めたイングランドは2018年に行われたロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)に続きベスト4進出を達成。7日に行われる準決勝では、デンマーク代表と対戦する。

今大会3試合に出場し、本職ではない左サイドバックでも堅実なプレーを見せたトリッピアーはチーム全体の成長に自信を持っているとコメント。今大会で大きなことを成し遂げたいと意気込んだ。

「この2年間でチームは大きく変化したね。今は、自分たちの歴史を作りたいと思っているんだ。それが僕たちの願いだよ」

「おそらくロシアW杯の時から今もメンバーに入っているのは6、7人だと思う。今のチームには若い才能がたくさんあるからね。それでも、僕たちの攻撃的な選手たちはすでに高い知名度を得ている。僕らは2018年から一歩前進したと思っているよ」

「ネーションズリーグでは準決勝に進出して、今はユーロでもデンマークと準決勝で対戦だ。僕たちは長年にわたり、本当に良い進歩を遂げてきたチームだ」

また、トリッピアーは今大会の試合中に心臓発作で倒れたデンマーク代表MFクリスティアン・エリクセンについても言及。トッテナム時代のチームメイトが回復していくことを願った。

「(エリクセンが倒れた姿は)移動中に見ていたよ。彼が今、僕たちと同じ場所にいることが重要だと思う。クリスティアンは良くなっており、進歩している。僕は彼と一緒にプレーしたことがあり、言葉にするのは難しいね。彼とは親しい間柄だった」

「最も重要なのは彼が良くなっているということだ。クリスティアンにはメッセージを送ったよ。すぐにではなく、ソーシャルメディアを通じてメッセージを送った」

8歳から親友コンビのライス&マウントが代表でゴール共演! 「同じ試合でゴールを決められるなんて…」
