ユーロ2020でまたしてもコカ・コーラが大きな注目を集めた。

スイス代表は28日、ラウンド16でフランス代表と対戦。ワールドカップ王者相手にラスト10分から2点差を追いつき、延長、PK戦の末に勝利。スイス史上初のベスト8進出を決めた。この試合でキャプテンマークを巻いてフル出場したスイス代表MFグラニト・ジャカだが、120分の戦いを終えてPK戦に向けてチームを鼓舞する場面では意外なものを手にしていた。
ジャカがスタッフから手渡され、口にしていたのはコカ・コーラのペットボトルだ。大会中に金髪に染め上げたジャカはそれを半分以上飲むと、円陣の中心でチームメイトたちを鼓舞。PK戦に向けてチームの士気を高めていた。

すると、この檄が効いたのかスイス代表は5人全員が成功。なお、コーラを飲んだジャカはPKを蹴っていない。そして、ジャカはこの試合のスター・オブ・ザ・マッチにも選ばれている。
今大会でコカ・コーラが注目を集めるのは初めてではない。ポルトガル代表FWクリスティアーノ・ロナウドが、公式会見で目の前にあった大会スポンサーであるコカ・コーラのボトルを視界から遠ざけて、水が入ったペットボトルを手に持ち、ソフトドリンクを否定するかのような行動を取ったことで大きな話題に。そこから多くの選手たちの中で似たような事態が起こっていた。

そのため、SNSではC・ロナウドと関連づける声も多いが、いずれにせよ今回のジャカの行動がコカ・コーラ社に大きな広告効果をもたらすことは間違いないだろう。

インテル守護神ゾマーがスイス代表で定位置失う? ベラルーシ戦2失点が母国で議論に「コベルを正GKに」

4度のW杯を経験したベーラミがスイス代表を引退

スイス代表ジャカ、W杯で対戦控える同僚2人に「僕が君たちを粉砕する」
