話題の“コカ・コーラ”片手にチームを熱く鼓舞!フランスを破ったスイス主将ジャカに注目集まる

ユーロ2020でまたしてもコカ・コーラが大きな注目を集めた。スイス代表は28日、ラウンド16でフランス代表と対戦。ワールドカップ王者相手にラスト10分から2点差を追いつき、延長、PK戦の末に勝利。スイス史上初のベスト8進出を決めた。

この試合でキャプテンマークを巻いてフル出場したスイス代表MFグラニト・ジャカだが、120分の戦いを終えてPK戦に向けてチームを鼓舞する場面では意外なものを手にしていた。
ジャカがスタッフから手渡され、口にしていたのはコカ・コーラのペットボトルだ。大会中に金髪に染め上げたジャカはそれを半分以上飲むと、円陣の中心でチームメイトたちを鼓舞。PK戦に向けてチームの士気を高めていた。

すると、この檄が効いたのかスイス代表は5人全員が成功。なお、コーラを飲んだジャカはPKを蹴っていない。そして、ジャカはこの試合のスター・オブ・ザ・マッチにも選ばれている。
今大会でコカ・コーラが注目を集めるのは初めてではない。ポルトガル代表FWクリスティアーノ・ロナウドが、公式会見で目の前にあった大会スポンサーであるコカ・コーラのボトルを視界から遠ざけて、水が入ったペットボトルを手に持ち、ソフトドリンクを否定するかのような行動を取ったことで大きな話題に。そこから多くの選手たちの中で似たような事態が起こっていた。

そのため、SNSではC・ロナウドと関連づける声も多いが、いずれにせよ今回のジャカの行動がコカ・コーラ社に大きな広告効果をもたらすことは間違いないだろう。

「彼は左サイドバックでもプレーが可能だと思った」と、試合後に口にしたのはアーセナルのミケル・アルテタ監督。日本代表DF冨安健洋を大一番のリバプール戦で左サイドバック起用した後に語ったコメントだ。 今シーズン開幕から好調を維持するアーセナルは、9日にプレミアリーグ第10節でリバプールと対戦した。 首位を守るためには勝たなければいけない相手。今シーズンは苦しいシーズンスタートとなったリバプールだったが、アーセナルにとっては2年間リーグ戦では勝っていない相手。好調なスタートを切ったシーズンだけに、しっかりと勝ってもらいたいと多くのファンが願った。 試合前に発表されたスターティングイレブンには冨安の名前が。ファンもプレーを希望していた中で、大一番での抜擢となったが、メンバーを見ると不思議な感覚に陥っていた。 アーセナルのスターティングメンバーには、イングランド代表DFベン・ホワイトの名前。右サイドバックで起用されると考えれば、ホワイトはいないはずだが、メンバーにいる。では昨シーズン同様にホワイトがセンターバックかと思いきや、フランス代表DFウィリアム・サリバ、ブラジル代表DFガブリエウ・マガリャンイスの名前も。アーセナルファンは、その時点で冨安が左サイドバックに入ることを察知した。 今夏加入したウクライナ代表MFオレクサンドル・ジンチェンコが居ないことも気になるところだが、ベンチメンバーを見ればスコットランド代表DFキーラン・ティアニーもいる。本職の左サイドバックがいながら、冨安を起用するという采配には、試合前から多くの批判的なコメントが見てとれた。 しかし、試合が始まればその言葉も無くなることに。冨安は対峙したエジプト代表FWモハメド・サラーを封じる役割を見せただけでなく、ビルドアップでも巧みなポジションどりと、両足を使えるキックで貢献。同サイドのFWガブリエウ・マルティネッリは冨安が後ろに構えることで攻撃に比重が置けることとなり、開始早々にゴールを決めただけでなく、ブカヨ・サカの勝ち越しゴールもアシストしていた。 試合は3-2で勝利。判定を巡って様々な意見はあったが、冨安が封じたサラーは途中交代せざるを得ない状況に。ユルゲン・クロップ監督も、サラーがこの試合で仕事ができていなかったことを試合後に認めていた。それだけ冨安が貢献したということだろう。 この大胆な采配は何も思いつきでやったわけではなく、予てから冨安を左サイドで起用できる可能性を探っていた。 アルテタ監督は今年5月、「彼は右サイドバックから両足が使えるだけでなく、右センターバック、左センターバック、左サイドバックでプレーできるため、多くの解決策を提供してくれる」と冨安について言及。その才能を既に見出していた。そして、昨夏から始まったチーム作りの上で、選手の多様性というものがアーセナルを進化させて行っていることがわかる。 <span class="paragraph-title">◆左サイドバック冨安の功績</span> 前述の通り、今シーズンのアーセナルはジンチェンコ、ティアニーと左サイドバックの本職がいる。アルテタ監督が待望したジンチェンコは、中盤にポジションをとってプレーすることが可能。従来のサイドバック以上の働きを今のスタイルで見せており、ティアニーは馬力とキャプテンシー、そして左サイドのスペシャリストとして高いポテンシャルを持っている。 一方で、冨安は日本代表で左センターバックでプレー。今回の左サイドバック起用はヨーロッパリーグ(EL)のボデ/グリムト戦でも後半途中から務めており、試運転が行われていた。 ボローニャ時代にも冨安は左サイドバックで何度かプレーした経験があり、左右の両足で遜色なくプレーできる点が生きることに。最終ラインだけでなく、チーム全体のシステムにおいて、様々な形をもたらせることができる重要なピースとなることがわかる。 冨安自身はボデ/グリムト戦のパフォーマンスを「満足していない」と語っていたが、アルテタ監督はサラーを封じるために起用したと言って良いだろう。 冨安は世界最高峰と言われるプレミアリーグでまだ2年目の選手。シーズン序盤と考えれば、1年しかプレーしていない状況だ。 昨シーズンの始まりも良く知らない日本人選手という目で見られていたが、デビュー戦でのパフォーマンスで一気にファンの心を掴むと、その後も落ち着いたプレーと、冷静な判断、そして何よりも一対一で抜かれないという強みを生かして信頼を勝ち取った。 特に、サイドバックがやりがちなすぐにプレスをかけてボールに飛び込む形はほとんど取らず、間合いを詰めて、ボールと相手の間に体を入れてボールを奪う守備を見せた他、188cmの身長を生かして空中戦でも圧倒的な勝率を誇り、数々のウインガーにとっては厄介な相手となっていた。 それは左サイドバックで起用されたリバプール戦でも同じ。サラーを封じるためについていくが、インサイドはスイス代表MFグラニト・ジャカがしっかりと下りてきて埋めている状況。前半にはボックス付近でのサラーの突破をファウルもせずに難なくボールを奪い、そのまま攻撃につなげているシーンもあった。結果としてチームは2失点をしているが、冨安のサイドからはやられていない。 また、アルテタ監督も口にしていた冨安の特徴の1つである左右の足が使えることも大きく、右サイドバックとして見せていたものを、左サイドでも十分に発揮していた。右ではイングランド代表FWブカヨ・サカ、ノルウェー代表MFマルティン・ウーデゴールと左利きの選手が前におり、そこにしっかりとパスを出して攻撃を活性化させていた。 攻撃面に関しては、まだ物足りないという意見が多いが、ティアニーの場合は高い位置を取りたがる傾向があり、マルティネッリの力を生かしきれないという点もある。ジンチェンコは中央に入る役割があり、上がり過ぎない冨安は、調子が良いマルティネッリを生かすのには適しているとも言える。 <span class="paragraph-title">◆チームの総合力を上げるユーティリティ性</span> そして、これは冨安に限ったことではない。右サイドバックでレギュラーをはるホワイトも、昨シーズンは1年間ほとんどセンターバックでプレー。冨安がケガで離脱した際には、試合中に右サイドバックを務めることもあったが、今シーズンは完全に右サイドバックでしかプレーしていない。 また、サリバはセンターバックで起用されているが、左サイドバックでも起用が可能。ただ、冨安が収まるのであれば、センターバックで起用し続けることで問題ないだろう。これまで、バックラインの負傷者に毎年のように悩まされるアーセナルだったが、冨安をはじめ、複数ポジションができる選手が多くいることはチームを大きく手助けし、チーム力を低下させないことにも繋がっている。 アーセナルからは離れるが、日本代表でも9月のアメリカ代表戦では、左のセンターバックとして前半を戦い、後半は右サイドバックでプレーした。左も可能となれば、日本代表が窮地に陥った際にもプランとして考えられ、監督としては選択肢が大きく広がることになる。それだけ遜色なく両サイドバックをこなせ、センターバックでもプレーでき、さらには元々ボランチでプレーしていたことも生きるはずだ。 話をアーセナルに戻し、冨安、ホワイトの両サイドバックを務めることで、最終ライン全員が180cmを超えることになる。ジンチェンコやティアニーは上背はなく、ロングボールを使って押し込む相手であれば、冨安を左サイドバックという考えは、試合途中でも考えられそうだ。この4人はそれぞれが足元の技術も高いだけに、空中でも地上でも相手を困らせることができ、後方からのビルドアップ、攻撃面でのサポートも何も問題はない。まさに、アルテタ監督が目指すサッカーを体現できるのだ。 過密日程に加え、リーグ戦を含めて4つの大会を戦うことになるアーセナル。相手によって、大会によって、選手の配置を変えることが可能であり、ケガなどで誰かを欠いても、しっかりとした代役を用意できる状況。冨安が見せたユーティリティ性と高いポテンシャルは、アルテタ監督のプランをさらに広げることに繋がるに違いなく、よりアーセナルを高みに押し上げる原動力になりそうだ。 《超ワールドサッカー編集部・菅野剛史》 2022.10.11 23:30 Tue

超豪華! W杯でも共演したブラジルのレジェンド4人がスタンドに勢揃い、その後ろの人物にも注目集まる

「流石に目立ちそう」「変わらないなー」コワモテな元アーセナルDFの京都観光姿に日本のファンも驚き「めっちゃ懐かしい」

スイス代表が招集発表! ジャカやザカリア、リカルド・ロドリゲスらを順当に選出《ユーロ2024予選》
