新天地で好調のゲッツェが目指すは代表復帰! 「ユーロ出場は大きな夢」

PSVの元ドイツ代表MFマリオ・ゲッツェ(28)は代表復帰を目指しているようだ。ドイツ『シュポルト・ビルト』が伝えた。

2009年に17歳でブンデスリーガデビューを飾り、「天才」として高い期待がかけられていたゲッツェ。2014年のブラジル・ワールドカップ(W杯)決勝で、母国を優勝に導く決勝ゴールをマークするなど、見事にその期待に応えている。

しかし、その後はケガや病気の影響もあり、クラブでの出場機会が減少。今夏にドルトムントを契約満了で退団した後、10月にフリーでPSVに加入した。初の海外挑戦となったPSVではここまで公式戦6試合の出場で3ゴールを挙げるなど、復活を印象づけている。

この活躍を受け、ドイツ代表のヨアヒム・レーブ監督はドイツ『Sportbuzzer』でゲッツェの代表復帰について言及。また、インタビューのなかで、レーブ監督はブラジルW杯で決めた決勝ゴールが彼のキャリアに影響を及ぼしてしまったと語った。

「私の考えを言うなら、彼は自分自身のために(PSV加入という)正しい決断をしたと思う。もちろん、我々が彼を見失うことなんてないよ」

「ドイツでは常にゲッツェに注目が集まっていた。2014年のゴールによって彼は大きなモノを背負うことになったが、それが重荷になっていたのは間違いないだろう」

国外クラブであるPSVへの移籍によって、レーブ監督の言う“重荷”から解放されたゲッツェは『ビルト』に対して代表復帰やユーロ2020への想いを語っている。

「また代表チームのためにプレーできたら嬉しいね。ユーロ2020出場は僕にとって大きな夢なんだ。2018年のロシアW杯を欠場したことで、僕のタイトルへの渇望はさらに大きくなっているよ」

2017年の招集を最後に、ゲッツェはドイツ代表から遠ざかっている。このままPSVで活躍を継続し、再び代表に選出される日が来るかどうか、注目したい。

29歳で引退した元W杯王者の転身が話題!ほぼ裸で雪山に登頂、自分の人生を見直すきっかけに

W杯で日本と対戦するドイツ代表の呼称「ディー・マンシャフト」が廃止に…7月末に結論

カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)では、日本代表とも対戦するドイツ代表だが、その“愛称”について議論がなされている。 2014年のブラジルW杯では優勝を果たしているドイツ代表。チームの愛称として「Die Mannschaft(ディー・マンシャフト)」が採用されている。これはW杯制覇後の2015年にドイツ代表のマネージャーを務めるオリバー・ビアホフ氏が呼称として導入したもの。意味は「これがチームだ」というものだが、廃止の方向で話が進んでいる。ドイツサッカー連盟(DFB)のベルント・ノイエンドルフ会長は、この呼称について終わる可能性があることを20日にコメント。7月末に結論を出すという。「終わりが来る。7月末に責任機関の会合が開かれ、決定が確実に下される。終わりのない話には興味がない」「今回の定性調査では、我々のイメージを固め、意見をまとめることができるはずだ。ただ、調査に依存することはない」この言葉の生みの親とも言われるビアホフ氏は「我慢すれば良い」と会長の決定を受け入れることを示唆。日本と対戦するときにはもう使われない愛称となっていそうだ。 2022.06.21 14:30 Tue
