クロアチアサッカー連盟(HNS)は21日、セビージャに所属するMFイバン・ラキティッチ(32)がクロアチア代表からの引退を申し入れたことを発表した。
HNSによれば、ラキティッチは今回の代表引退についてHNSのダヴォール・シューケル会長やズラトコ・ダリッチ監督、クロアチア代表で主将を務めるMFルカ・モドリッチとの話し合いを行い決断したとのことだ。
世代別代表ではスイス代表としてプレーしたが、2007年に自らのルーツを持つクロアチア代表を選択することを発表したラキティッチ。同年9月のエストニア代表戦でクロアチア代表デビューを飾ると、ユーロは2008年、2012年、2016年の3大会、ワールドカップは2014年、2018年と2大会に出場していた。
2018年行われたロシア・ワールドカップでは、全試合に出場しチームの準優勝に大きく貢献。ユーロでも通算10試合に出場。クロアチア代表としては歴代4位となる通算106試合に出場していた。
代表引退を決断したラキティッチは、クロアチアサッカー連盟の公式サイトを通じて以下のようにコメントした。
バーゼルの下部組織で育ったラキティッチは、2005年にプロデビュー。その後、シャルケやセビージャでのプレーを経て、2014年にバルセロナへ加入。バルセロナでは公式戦310試合に出場し35ゴール42アシストを記録。ラ・リーガ4回、コパ・デル・レイ4回、チャンピオンズリーグ1回など、合計13個のタイトルを獲得。
しかし、ロナルド・クーマン監督の新体制では構想外となっていたため、契約を1年残しながらも退団を決意。1日に古巣セビージャへの6年ぶりの復帰が発表されていた。
HNSによれば、ラキティッチは今回の代表引退についてHNSのダヴォール・シューケル会長やズラトコ・ダリッチ監督、クロアチア代表で主将を務めるMFルカ・モドリッチとの話し合いを行い決断したとのことだ。

サウジアラビアで実現した2ショットに歓喜の声、バルセロナ時代のチームメイトが再会「あの頃が懐かしい」「ノスタルジーを感じる」

「ショック」「史上最悪」クロアチア代表のW杯ユニ、伝統の市松模様が不均衡なホームは酷評の嵐…アウェイには好意的意見
