アーセナルのフレドリック・ユングベリ暫定監督が元ドイツ代表MFメスト・エジルの振る舞いにコメントした。イギリス『BBC』が報じている。

アーセナルは15日に行われたプレミアリーグ第17節でマンチェスター・シティと対戦。本拠地でのゲームだったが、0-3の完敗を喫して、上位の背中がさらに遠ざかった。

この試合に先発したエジルは59分に交代。その際、アーセナルの一部サポーターから野次を浴びると、ベンチ前に差しかかったところで手袋を蹴り、不満を露わにした。

ユングベリ暫定監督は、この試合前にSNS上で中国のウイグル人弾圧を批判したことが物議を呼ぶなか、ピッチ内でも問題行動に出たエジルについて、こう述べている。

「どんなリアクションをみせるかは彼次第。その件に関してはこれから対応していく。私は暫定という立場だが、選手たちに対しては無論、適切な振る舞いをしてもらいたい。チームにもっとエネルギーが欲しかった(からエジルを交代させた)」

今シーズンのアーセナルは、スイス代表MFグラニト・ジャカが10月にサポーターのブーイングに対して、挑発する行動を働き、キャプテンの座から降板。ウナイ・エメリ氏の後を引き継いで以降、公式戦5試合でわずか1勝のユングベリ暫定監督は今後も苦難が続きそうだ。
