必要なのは時間とオーナーの信念…ペップ、サッリを擁護「私も1年目はとても苦労した」

マンチェスター・シティを率いるジョゼップ・グアルディオラ監督が、チェルシーのマウリツィオ・サッリ監督を擁護している。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が伝えた。

10日、プレミアリーグ第26節でマンチェスター・シティvsチェルシーがエティハド・スタジアムで行われた。注目を集めたビッグマッチだったが、試合はシティが25分間で4ゴールを奪う予想外の展開に。チェルシーを圧倒するシティは後半にも2ゴールを奪い、6-0と大勝。リーグ戦3連勝を飾った。

一方のチェルシーは、1991年のノッティング・フォレスト戦で喫した0-7に次ぐ屈辱的な大敗。順位も6位まで落とした。これにより、サッリ監督の進退についても問題が浮上している。

この件についてシティのグアルディオラ監督は、記者から『同情するか?』と質問され、以下のように答えた。

「もちろんだ。私は彼がしたいことが明確にわかる。こういうタイプの人間は、常にフットボールの進化に貢献する」

「彼らはスタンフォード・ブリッジで我々を倒した。昨シーズンは(サッリ監督率いる)ナポリ相手にもやられた。それらの試合で彼らは我々を上回っていた」
