昨年の夏にチェルシーからマドリーに入団したクルトワ。入団直後には「チェルシーよりマドリーの方がレベルが高い」とコメントするなど、度々古巣サポーターの神経を逆なでするような発言が目立ったが、現在では落ち着きを取り戻している。
しかし、『Het Nieuwsblad』のインタビューに応じたクルトワは、“ネイマールとアザールのどちらに加入して欲しいか”と問われ、以下のように返答した。

2年越しに監督に謝罪…チェルシーGKケパが交代拒否の真相を明かす「無視するつもりなんてなかった」
