レアル・マドリーのベルギー代表GKティボー・クルトワ(30)が交際していたミシェル・ゲルジグさん(25)と婚約したことを発表した。
2018年にチェルシーからレアル・マドリーに加入し、守護神の座に定着しているクルトワ。今シーズンも公式戦51試合に出場すると、チームはラ・リーガで35度目のリーグ優勝を達成。さらにチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)でも4年ぶり14度目の栄冠に輝き、クルトワにとっては初のビッグイヤー獲得となった。
充実のシーズンを過ごしたクルトワだが、プライベートでも充実さをうかがわせた。5日にミシェルさんとともにインスタグラムを更新すると、イタリアのアマルフィ海岸近くに停めた船でプロポーズする様子を公開。200cmと大柄なクルトワがひざまずきながらミシェルさんの指に指輪をはめており、「あなたとの生涯にイエス」と返事を貰ったようだ。
この日はミシェルさんの誕生日だったようで、クルトワは改めて最愛の人にメッセージを送っている。
「未来の妻であり、一番のサポーターでもあり、毎日笑わせてくれる人、そして特にこの素晴らしい子供たちにとって素晴らしい母、ハッピーバースデーを。僕たちのためにしてくれていること全てに、感謝してもしきれないよ!愛してるよ!」
クルトワは2人の子供を産んだスペイン人のパートナーと2016年9月ごろに離婚。ミシェルさんとは2021年8月に堂々の交際宣言をしていた。

特にCLでは決勝のリバプール戦で好セーブを連発し、マン・オブ・ザ・マチに輝くなど見事な活躍を披露したが、クルトワは自身を「レンガの壁」に例えることにしたようだ。
クルトワが自身のインスタグラムのストーリーズで明かしたのは、ゴールの内側に敷き詰められたレンガの壁と「TC1(Thibaut Courtois 1の略)」の文字、そしてビッグイヤーと呼ばれるCLトロフィーを描いたタトゥーだった。

28日、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)決勝のリバプールvsレアル・マドリーがパリのスタッド・ドゥ・フランスで行われ、0-1で勝利を収めたマドリーが4年ぶり14度目の戴冠を果たした。
今シーズンの欧州王者を決める戦いには、各界のスターたちも観戦に訪れたが、その1人がNBAのユタ・ジャズに所属しているルディ・ゴベアだ。
216cmの高身長を武器にNBA最優秀守備選手賞にも選ばれているゴベアは、優勝直後のピッチに降り立つと、マドリーの選手たちと記念撮影。GKティボー・クルトワ、MFエデン・アザール、FWカリム・ベンゼマとそれぞれ2ショット写真も撮影した。
ゴベアは自身のインスタグラムでそれらの写真を投稿しているが、あまりのサイズにファンが衝撃。特に、CL決勝でも200cmの身長をいかして好セーブを見せたクルトワとの並びには、「クルトワですら小さく見える」、「200cmのクルトワが小さく見えてしまう衝撃」と驚きの様子だ。
その他にも「でっかぁ」、「大きすぎる」、「アザールだって小さいわけじゃないのに」、「コラ画像にしか見えない」といった声が上がっており、アスリートの中でも大きいゴベアのサイズに中々理解が追いつかないようだ。

レアル・マドリーのベルギー代表GKティボー・クルトワがその真価を発揮した。
マドリーは6日、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)準々決勝1stレグでチェルシーとスタンフォード・ブリッジで対戦。クルトワにとっては、2017年まで所属した古巣との対決となった。
そのクルトワは以前の本拠地で能力を遺憾なく発揮。15分の相手DFリース・ジェームズのFKをはじき出すと、失点は喫したものの、40分の場面でもMFカイ・ハヴァーツのヘディングに抜群の反応をみせ、食らいついていた。
中でも、最も目立ったのが50分の場面だ。マドリーが3-1とリードを広げた直後、失点は許したくない場面で、ハヴァーツのシュートのこぼれ球に反応したチェルシーDFセサル・アスピリクエタが右足を強振。強烈なシュートがゴール右上隅へ向かった。それに対し、クルトワは驚異の反応で目一杯ジャンプ。身長2mの大きな体をしならせ、完璧なコースへのシュートを右手1本ではじき出した。
常人離れしたセーブには、ファンも「人間やめてる」、「ゴール小さくしてるんじゃない?」、「クルトワ神」、「手が長すぎる」、「今何センチ飛んだんだ?」と様々な反応で驚きを示している。

レアル・マドリーのベルギー代表GKティボー・クルトワがメンタルの強さを見せつけている。
18日、ラ・リーガ第6節、アトレティコ・マドリーとレアル・マドリーによるマドリード・ダービーがシビタス・メトロポリターノで行われ、アウェイのマドリーが1-2で勝利。今季初のダービーを制した。
この試合でマドリーのゴールマウスを守ったクルトワだが、試合前にはゴール裏のアトレティコサポーターから大声で野次られる場面があった。
野次に対しクルトワは、臆することなく笑顔をお返し。しばらくやり過ごした後、ゴール裏にボトルを置くタイミングで自身の左腕に刻まれたチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)トロフィーを描いたタトゥーを指差して見せつけた。
これまで14回CLを優勝しているマドリーに対し、アトレティコは優勝経験がなく、決勝で2度マドリーに敗れている。2013-14シーズンには当時アトレティコに在籍していたクルトワがもCL決勝でゴールマウスを守り、マドリー相手に1-4で敗れていた。
その後2018年に宿敵マドリーへと渡ったクルトワ。世界屈指の守護神が持つメンタルの強さは並大抵のものではないようだ。
