▽アメリカサッカー連盟(USSF)が、フレン・ロペテギ氏(52)の招へいを検討しているようだ。スペイン『アス』が報じた。

▽ロペテギ氏は、今シーズン初めからレアル・マドリーで指揮を執っていたが、成績不振により10月29日に解任。ロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)直前にも、発表されていたマドリー指揮官就任の報にスペインサッカー連盟(RFEF)のルイス・ルビアレス会長が激怒したことで、スペイン代表指揮官を解任されており、約5か月間で2度も職を失うこととなった。

▽しかし、幸いなことにロペテギ氏の評判は落ちておらず。『アス』によると、スペイン代表でロシアW杯までトップレベルのチームを作り上げていたことや、U-21スペイン代表指揮官時代に多くの若手の才能を引き出していた手腕は、高い評価を保っているようだ。また、マドリーの低迷の責が同氏にあると考えている関係者は少なく、複数のクラブや各国協会が関心を示しているという。

▽今回、招へいの検討が伝えられているアメリカ代表は、今年のロシアW杯で1968年以来初めて出場を逃しており、昨年10月にブルース・アリーナ前監督が辞任。現在まで、デイヴ・サラチャン氏が暫定で指揮を執る状態が続いている。

▽しかし、その状況とは裏腹にドルトムントMFクリスティアン・プリシッチ(20)やパリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)FWティモシー・ウェア(18)など期待の若手を多く現れており、その点で実績のあるロペテギ氏に白羽の矢が立ったようだ。

将来が嘱望された女子大生GKが22歳で他界…スタンフォード大学の寮で見つかる

コパ・アメリカの組み合わせ決定! 北中米6カ国も参加しアメリカで開催【コパ・アメリカ2024】
