オーストラリア、ケイヒルが20日に代表引退試合指揮官「最後の5分間はケイヒルのもの」

▽インド・スーパーリーグのジャムシェードプルに所属する元オーストラリア代表FWティム・ケイヒル(38)が、20日に行われる国際親善試合のレバノン代表戦で愛するサッカルーズに別れを告げる。

▽2004年3月に代表デビューを飾ったケイヒルは、2006年のドイツ大会からこれまで4度のワールドカップ(W杯)に出場。代表通算出場試合数ではGKマーク・シュウォーツァー(109試合)に次ぐ2位の107試合出場も、代表通算50ゴールは歴代最多の数字だ。だが、サッカルーズの偉大なレジェンドはロシアW杯後に代表引退を表明していた。

▽そのレジェンドに報いたいオーストラリアサッカー連盟(AFA)は今年9月、11月20日にシドニーで行われるレバノンとの国際親善試合を同選手の引退試合にすることを発表していた。

▽今回のレバノン戦に関しては来年1月に予定されているAFCアジアカップ2019に向けた最後の選考試合となるため、ケイヒルの起用法に関して明言を避けてきたグラハム・アーノルド監督だったが、19日に行われた公式会見の場で85分からの起用を明言した。『FOX SPORTS』が伝えている。

「最初の85分は我々のパフォーマンスに焦点が当てられる」

「しかし、以降はフレンドリーマッチではないよ。最後の5分間はティミー(ケイヒル)のためのものだ」

元豪州代表スピラノビッチが34歳で現役引退…かつて浦和所属のセンターバック

元オーストラリア代表DFのレイバット氏が遺体で発見…99年にベルマーレ平塚でプレー

ベルマーレ平塚でもプレーした元オーストラリア代表DFスティーブン・レイバットさん(46)が遺体で発見された。オーストラリア『シドニー・モーニング・ヘラルド』によると、レイバットさんは13日に家族から行方不明届が出されていたとのこと。12日に友人を訪ねるため、南東部シドニーから東部ブリスベン近郊のバイロン・ベイへ向かったものの、13日午前には家族と連絡が取れなくなっていたという。地元警察が大規模な捜索を行った結果、14日夜にバイロン・ベイからほど近いビーチ近くの低木林でレイバットさんの遺体が発見されたとのこと。現段階で死因や事件性の有無は公式には発表されていないものの、事件性は低いとみられている。レイバットさんは2000年のシドニー五輪にU-23オーストラリア代表として参加し、2000〜2004年にかけてはA代表で15試合出場。クラブキャリアでは1999年に短期間ながらもベルマーレ平塚(現:湘南ベルマーレ)でプレーし、オランダのフェイエノールト、ベルギーのヘントなどにも在籍経験を持つ。引退後は「現役時代にそんなことはできなかった」として2021年に同性愛をカミングアウト。同年には、病院のリハビリ病棟に勤務するなか、腎臓移植によって高齢男性の命を助けていた。レイバットさんの訃報を受け、元オーストラリア代表DFルーク・ウィルクシャー氏など、多くの関係者が哀悼の意をSNSなどで表明している。 2024.01.15 13:30 Mon

「観客動員が少ない!」オーストラリア・Aリーグが従業員の半数解雇で事業再編へ…今季の平均観客動員数最多はシドニーFCで「1万4097人」
