元オーストラリア代表FWティム・ケイヒル氏(44)の次男が、所属するブリスベン・ロアーとの契約を解除した。豪『news.com.au』が伝えている。

日本代表相手に幾度となくネットを揺らしたケイヒル氏。180cmに満たない身長ながら、類まれなるジャンプ力から放たれるヘディングシュートは一級品で、全盛期を過ごしたエバートンでは今なお絶大な人気を誇る。
現在カタール代表のテクニカルディレクターを務めているが、妻との間に3人の息子と1人の娘がおり、長男キア・ケイヒル(21)と次男シェイ・ケイヒル(19)もフットボーラーだ。

ケイヒル氏がサモアにルーツを持つこともあり、長男キアは世代別のころからサモア代表を選択。キャリアの軸足を豪州ではなくサモアに置く、父と同じ“178cmストライカー”だ。

一方、次男シェイはセントラルハーフ。06年ドイツW杯の前年に生まれた19歳は、父も過ごしたエバートンの下部組織に所属し、昨夏母国のブリスベン・ロアーとプロ契約を結んだ。
ブリスベン加入発表時は、まだカタール入りしていなかった父が契約締結に同行。ユニフォームを手に並んで写真に収まる姿も公開され、大きな期待と注目を浴びていたという。

クラブも当時、「育成の名門エバートンからシェイを獲得できて喜ばしい限りです。ブリスベン・ロアーにとってエキサイティングな時代の到来となることを約束します」と宣言した。

しかし、シェイは今季を通してリーグ戦2試合30分間の出場にとどまり、大半をU-18チームで過ごしたとのこと。そしてこの度、双方合意の契約解除をブリスベンが発表した。

まだまだこれからという19歳シェイ・ケイヒル。契約解除の経緯は明らかになっていないが、人生初の母国生活でプロキャリア最初の壁にぶつかった格好。今後の飛躍に期待したい。

観客動員低迷で財務危機の豪Aリーグ、TV中継の制作会社も経営破綻…国内での放映はどうなる?

財務危機のAリーグ「オーストラリア・プロフェッショナル・リーグス(APL)」に新たな打撃だ。 オーストラリアの男女ともに国内トップディビジョンであるAリーグ。管轄のAPLは1月以降、観客動員低迷を主な要因とする経営状況悪化が報じられ、従業員の半数解雇や事業縮小を敢行した。 そこへ新たな打撃。豪『news.com.au』によると、リーグのTV中継の制作を一任していた「Global Advance」が27日に経営破綻。同社は即座に銀行の管理下に入り、国内でAリーグが放映されなくなるとの懸念が発生した。 ただし、この情報はAPLも事前に把握していたのか、2023-24シーズン残りの制作は別会社「NEP」への委託が事実上決まっているといい、今季中のTV中継には支障がないとのこと。男女ともに全試合の放映が担保されているという。 APLは27日深夜に緊急声明。 「本件はGlobal Advance社に期待を裏切られたもの。ファン、選手、クラブ…商業的取り組みに及ぼすリスクが心配です。私たちとしても失望しており、関係各所と協力して、APLに賠償金を請求します」 なんとか窮地は免れた模様のAリーグとAPLだが、これもラグビーやフットボール、クリケットに人気で後塵を拝すオーストラリアサッカー界の現実と言えるかもしれない。 2024.03.29 12:30 Fri

昨夏エバートンから加入も…ティム・ケイヒル氏の19歳次男がブリスベン・ロアーと1年で契約解除

元オーストラリア代表FWティム・ケイヒル氏(44)の次男が、所属するブリスベン・ロアーとの契約を解除した。豪『news.com.au』が伝えている。 日本代表相手に幾度となくネットを揺らしたケイヒル氏。180cmに満たない身長ながら、類まれなるジャンプ力から放たれるヘディングシュートは一級品で、全盛期を過ごしたエバートンでは今なお絶大な人気を誇る。 現在カタール代表のテクニカルディレクターを務めているが、妻との間に3人の息子と1人の娘がおり、長男キア・ケイヒル(21)と次男シェイ・ケイヒル(19)もフットボーラーだ。 ケイヒル氏がサモアにルーツを持つこともあり、長男キアは世代別のころからサモア代表を選択。キャリアの軸足を豪州ではなくサモアに置く、父と同じ“178cmストライカー”だ。 一方、次男シェイはセントラルハーフ。06年ドイツW杯の前年に生まれた19歳は、父も過ごしたエバートンの下部組織に所属し、昨夏母国のブリスベン・ロアーとプロ契約を結んだ。 ブリスベン加入発表時は、まだカタール入りしていなかった父が契約締結に同行。ユニフォームを手に並んで写真に収まる姿も公開され、大きな期待と注目を浴びていたという。 クラブも当時、「育成の名門エバートンからシェイを獲得できて喜ばしい限りです。ブリスベン・ロアーにとってエキサイティングな時代の到来となることを約束します」と宣言した。 しかし、シェイは今季を通してリーグ戦2試合30分間の出場にとどまり、大半をU-18チームで過ごしたとのこと。そしてこの度、双方合意の契約解除をブリスベンが発表した。 まだまだこれからという19歳シェイ・ケイヒル。契約解除の経緯は明らかになっていないが、人生初の母国生活でプロキャリア最初の壁にぶつかった格好。今後の飛躍に期待したい。 2024.06.25 13:40 Tue
