かつて韓国代表の指揮官として2002年日韓ワールドカップでも躍進に貢献したフース・ヒディンク氏が、再びアジアの虎を率いることに前向きなようだ。

韓国はロシア・ワールドカップアジア最終予選で大苦戦。不振から、最後の2試合を残し、ウリ・シュティーリケ監督を解任してシン・テヨン監督が就任した。結果として何とか予選突破を果たしたものの、シン・テヨン監督に率いられた残り2試合をスコアレスドローで終えるなど、国内のファンから多くの不満を集めている。

そこで白羽の矢が立ったのが、ヒディンク氏だ。同氏は2002年日韓ワールドカップで、韓国を率いて史上初のベスト4へと導いた。近年はジョゼ・モウリーニョ監督解任後のチェルシーで暫定監督を務めている。

ヒディンク氏は韓国代表指揮官就任のうわさについて『YTN』で「彼らが求めてくれるなら、再びやりたい。お金は重要な問題ではない」と語っている。

一方で、韓国サッカー協会(KFA)は「シン・テヨンとワールドカップまで契約し、彼をサポートする」との声明を明らかにしている。

「知っていたら契約していない」元ブラジル代表FWパト、過去のチェルシー移籍を後悔
