アディダスが飼い猫虐待ズマとの契約解除! ウェストハム対応に不満のスポンサーも契約停止…
ウェストハムのフランス代表DFクル・ズマの飼い猫への虐待事件が更なる波紋を広げている。イギリス『SPORT BIBLE』が報じている。 昨夏にチェルシーからウェストハムに完全移籍で加入したズマは、先日に兄弟のヨアンが『スナップチャット』に投稿した動画内で、飼っている猫に対して蹴飛ばす、逃げるところを追い回す、靴を投げつける、平手で殴打する姿が映されていた。 この動物虐待によって世界中から猛批判を受けることになったズマは、すぐさま公式に謝罪。しかし、虐待の常習性を疑う声も多く、9日に行われたワトフォード戦でデイビッド・モイーズ監督がスタメンフル出場させるクラブサイドの拙い対応もあり、未だ周囲から厳しい目に晒されている状況だ。 その後、動物福祉団体の英国王立動物虐待防止協会(RSPCA)がズマの非道な行為の被害に遭った2匹の猫を保護したことを発表。さらに、クラブはズマに対する処分として2週間分の給与にあたる25万ポンド(約3910万円)の罰金を科すことを発表していた。 しかし、ズマの非道行為に憤る19万人以上の人々は、今回の虐待事件で起訴を求める嘆願書に署名しており、地元のエセックス警察もRSPCAと連絡を取り合いながら、捜査を進めている段階だ。 こういった世間からの反応を受け、ズマ本人とスポンサー契約を結ぶ『アディダス』社は、「我々は調査を終え、クル・ズマがアディダスとの契約選手でなくなったことを確認する」と、同選手との契約を打ち切ったことを認めた。 さらに、ウェストハムとオフィシャル・ウェルネスパートナー契約を結ぶ、健康保険、生命保険、自動車保険、投資の大手プロバイダーである『Vitality』社は、渦中のズマを試合で起用する決断を下したクラブの対応への不満からスポンサー契約を停止したことを声明で発表した。 「今回の事件に対してクラブが示したその後の判断に、我々は非常に失望している」 「このため、ウェストハム・ユナイテッドとのスポンサーシップを直ちに停止する」 「我々は今後、クラブがこの状況に対処するためにどのような行動を取るのか理解するために、さらにクラブと関わっていくことになる」 先日に恋人への強姦、暴行、脅迫の容疑で逮捕されたイングランド代表FWメイソン・グリーンウッドは、ズマ同様に『ナイキ』社とのスポンサー契約を打ち切られる措置を取られた。 その一方で、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドはSNS上でDV疑惑が発覚したタイミングで同選手のトレーニング、試合参加の停止という適切な措置を講じたことで、今回のウェストハムのようなクラブスポンサーからの反発を招くことはなかった。 映像という明確な証拠、物言えぬ弱者とも言える動物への悪質な虐待行為という側面を考えれば、ズマの強行起用は紛れもない悪手だ。事態の深刻さを見誤ったか、勝ち点3獲得のためリスク承知でベストプレーヤーを送り出す判断を下したのかは不明だが、ウェストハムは、今回の判断によってスポンサー、ファンからの信頼を大きく失うことになった…。 2022.02.10 07:30 Thu

「高価な食べ物はない」ギネス記録樹立、C・ロナウドのあの肉体の秘訣を専属シェフが明かす
