リバプール不動の右サイドバックとして、23歳の若さながらすでに多くのタイトルを手にしているアレクサンダー=アーノルド。しかし、イングランド代表では多くの有力選手との激しいポジション争いもあり、ポジションを掴むまでには至っていない。

9月に行われたインターナショナルマッチウィークでは、代表に招集されながらも試合出場はなし。こうした扱いに批判の声が上がると、ガレス・サウスゲイト監督は「キーラン・トリッピアーの万能性はアレクサンダー=アーノルドより優れている」と発言し、自身の采配を正当化した。

しかし、この指揮官の発言が火に油を注ぐ事態に。イギリス『Talksport』に出演したアグボンラホール氏は、アレクサンダー=アーノルドへの侮辱だと非難しており、指揮官が交代するまで選手は代表から退くべきだと持論を展開した。

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

「泣きながら電話した」アルコール依存症に苦しむ元イングランド代表ガスコイン氏が家を出て居候に、それでも闘病に決意「戦い続ける」
