インテル・マイアミの共同オーナーを務める元イングランド代表MFデイビッド・ベッカム氏が、恩師であるサー・アレックス・ファーガソン氏と再会した。イギリス『サン』が伝えている。

ベッカム氏は息子のロメオ君とともに、18日にウェンブリー・スタジアムで行われたユーロ2020グループD第2節のイングランド代表vsスコットランド代表の試合を現地で観戦。その後スタジアムのレストランエリアで、同じく試合を観戦していたマンチェスター・ユナイテッドの元監督でもあるファーガソン氏と再会を果たしていた。

ベッカム氏と言えば、ユナイテッドのユース出身でファーガソン氏の偉大な教え子の1人。しかし、2003年2月15日に行われたFAカップ3回戦のアーセナル戦に0-4で完敗した際、ロッカールームで激怒したファーガソン氏が蹴り上げたスパイクがベッカム氏の額を直撃。縫合が必要な傷を負って多くの移籍の噂が巻き起こると、そのシーズン終了後にレアル・マドリーへと移籍していった逸話もある。

それでも、すでに両者の関係は修復。2018年にファーガソン氏が脳出血で倒れた際には、真っ先にメッセージを送っていた。

この日は、ベッカム氏と同席していた次男のロメオ君もファーガソン氏と2ショット。プロサッカー選手を目指している18歳の少年にとって、父も師事した名将との出会いは大きな刺激になったはずだ。

ベッカムに並ぶ“イケメン”…日韓W杯で一大ブームとなったイルハンはすっかり“イケオジ”に

イングランド代表のコーチ陣にコクラン氏が入閣、世代別のイングランド代表監督を務めた経験もある若手指導者…トゥヘル監督が最後の1人に指名

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】
