元ブラジル代表FWロナウジーニョの息子がチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)のバーンリーに加入した。
スペイン『ムンド・デポルティボ』によると、昨シーズン限りでバルセロナを退団したブラジル人FWジョアン・メンデス(19)はバーンリーに2026年までの2年契約で加入したという。
フットボール界のレジェンド中のレジェンドであるロナウジーニョ氏を実の父親に持つジョアン・メンデスは178cmの左利きのストライカー。
14歳のときに親子関係を隠したまま、父のブラジルの古巣であるクルゼイロのアカデミーに加入。以降は各年代で主力を担ってきたが、2023年初旬にU-17チームを退団。
そして、17歳となったジョアン・メンデスは、父親の古巣であるバルセロナのU-19チームに加入するためのトライアルに参加。数週間に渡るトライアルでのアピールが実り、無事加入が認められた。
なお、偉大なる父はブラジル、フランス、スペイン、イタリア、メキシコでプレー経験があるが、イングランドでのプレー経験はなかった。
今回、初めて父がプレーしたことのないクラブでプレーすることになる19歳の若武者は、地道に自身のキャリアを切り拓いていくことになる。

足首があらぬ方向に…試合中のアクシデントに負傷させてしまった相手選手が号泣

試合中止の豪雪の中、白いワイシャツ1枚で登場し笑顔を振りまく超人監督がイングランドで大注目
