ドイツ代表FWトーマス・ミュラー(33)が代表引退を示唆した。ドイツ『DER SPIEGEL』が報じている。

2010年のドイツ代表デビューから通算121試合のキャップを誇るミュラー。一時期は代表から遠ざかったなか、ハンジ・フリック監督が就任してからまた呼ばれるようになり、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)の登録メンバーにも選ばれた。

だが、今大会のドイツ代表はグループE初戦で日本代表に1-2で敗れてまさかの躓き。1日の最終節ではコスタリカ代表を4-2で下したものの、勝ち点4で並ぶスペイン代表に得失点差で及ばず、2大会連続のグループステージ敗退が決まった。
試合後のミュラーはグループステージ敗退を受けてのインタビューで自身の代表キャリアが不透明なものであるとした上で、引退の可能性を匂わせる発言をした。

「この先のことはわからない。でも、あの試合がドイツ代表でのラストマッチだったとしたら、ずっと一緒にいてくれたドイツ代表のフットボールファンのみんなにひと言を言いたい。とてつもない喜びだった。親愛なるみんなに感謝したい」
「僕らは一緒に信じられないような瞬間を経験した。僕はどの試合も、ピッチで心を込めて全力を尽くそうとした。僕のプレーで嬉し涙するときもあれば、苦い表情を浮かべるときもあったことだろう。でも、愛情をもってやったのは確かだ」

クロース現役引退のドイツ、ミュラーも代表に別れ? 「これが最後の試合になるかも」

批判も受けたドイツ代表ユニフォームに問題…ナチスの「SS」に類似との指摘を受け「4」のフォントを変更、アディダスは購入中止に

ロナウドとの会話を明かすクロース「今後の試合について簡単に話をした」

東京五輪での初勝利後にプロポーズ! ドイツ代表FWクルーゼ「僕の妻になってくれますか?」
