アル・ナスルのFWクリスティアーノ・ロナウドがポルトガル代表でチームメイトだった現役引退のボルトガル代表DFペペに惜別のメッセージを送った。かつてはレアル・マドリーでも数々のタイトル獲得で共闘した2人。代表でも2016年のユーロ制覇に大きく貢献し、ペペのことはC・ロナウドがどの選手よりも知っていると言っても過言ではないだろう。

そんな戦友の別れがついに。ペペは8日、現役引退を表明。昨季限りでポルトを離れ、フリーの身となるなか、プロ23年間でクラブ通算737試合、代表通算141キャップのキャリアに終止符を打った。
41歳DFにとって、ベスト8敗退のユーロ2024が最後となるなか、敗退時に抱擁する姿もあったC・ロナウドも自身のインスタグラムで反応。代表、そしてレアル・マドリー時代の写真とともに惜しみ、感謝した。

「君が僕にとってどれだけ大切な存在かなんて言葉で言い表せない。僕らはフィールドで勝つべきものをすべて勝ちとったけど、最大の功績は君との友情と尊敬だ。君は唯一無二の存在で、僕の兄弟。本当にありがとう」

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】
