レンジャーズ戦で終盤交代させられた旗手怜央

セルティックのブレンダン・ロジャーズ監督が、日本代表MF旗手怜央を叱責した。イギリス『デイリー・レコード』が伝えた。

今シーズンのスコティッシュ・プレミアシップも佳境に入っており、セルティックはレンジャーズとの“オールド・ファーム”で2-1と勝利。残り2試合で勝ち点1を積み上げれば3連覇という状況だ。

レンジャーズとの一戦でもしっかりと勝利を収めたセルティックだったが、ロジャーズ監督は旗手に不満。80分に岩田智輝と交代させた理由について言及した。

「2-1での私のメッセージは、ただボールを保持して試合をコントロールするというものだった。だからこそ、レオは交代した」

「彼は大きな才能を持っているが、私の好みからすれば、あまりにも才能を発揮しすぎている」

ロジャーズ監督にしてみれば、リードしている状況でボールを保持することを求めていたものの、旗手は何度も相手にボールを渡すこととなり、リスクを負うプレーを見せていた。

試合後にそれが気に入らなかったと明言。自分本位にプレーしたことを咎めた。

「MFとしてゲームをコントロールしなければならない。ボールへの愛情を示し、ボールの世話をしなければならない。あまりにもルーズで雑だった。試合は必要以上に緊迫したものになってしまった」

「我々はPKを外して3-1とするのを逃したが、5-1か6-1になってもおかしくない試合だった。それはマイナス面ではあるが、レンジャーズに勝てるのであればプラスの面の方が遥かに大きい」
