スペインで結果を残した22歳は新天地フランスでも逸材ぶりをさっそく発揮し、リーグ・アン開幕から3戦連発の5得点1アシスト。得点数はリーグ・アン全体で見ても、ここまで4ゴールを決めるパリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)の新鋭ブラッドリー・バルコラを抑え込み、トップだ。

本来なら代表にも入ってくるだけの輝きを放つが、やはり過去が過去とあって、選考段階から候補にも入っていないようだ。イギリス『デイリー・メール』によると、リー・カーズリー暫定監督は7日のアイルランド代表戦前にした会見で、グリーンウッド招集の選択肢に言及した。

「正直なところ、メイソンは検討できる選手ではなかった。彼がどんな調子かは認識しているが、検討の対象にはならなかった」

代表キャリアではルーツのジャマイカ代表へ鞍替え手続きも噂されるが、イングランド代表復帰の可能性は候補にも含まれずの現状とあって、起訴取り下げから1年以上が経ってもゼロに近いようだ。

イングランドサッカー協会(FA)は26日、イングランド代表のコーチにジャスティン・コクラン氏(43)が就任することを発表した。トーマス・トゥヘル監督が就任し、初の活動を3月に控えているイングランド。2026年の北中米ワールドカップ予選がスタートする中で、新たなコーチングスタッフが決定した。コクラン氏は、クイーンズ・パーク・レンジャーズ(QPR)でキャリアをスタート。イングランドやアメリカでプレーし、2013年7月に現役を引退。引退前からトッテナムのアカデミーのスタッフとして働くと、U-15、U-16、U-17のイングランド代表の監督も務めていた。イングランド代表の育成に携わってきたコクラン氏は、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドの育成ディレクターも務め、現在はブレントフォードでトーマス・フランク監督の右腕として指導にあたっている。 FAによれば、ブレントフォードとは兼任となるとのこと。トゥヘル監督は、アシスタントコーチのアンソニー・バリー氏、GKコーチのエンリケ・イラリオ氏、パフォーマンスコーチのニコラス・マイヤー氏らがいるコーチングスタッフの最後のメンバーとして迎えることを決めたという。 2025.02.27 11:50 Thu

相手が恐れる右手…ストライカーの完成形と呼ばれた男、アラン・シアラー
