イングランド代表から外れることとなったトッテナムのMFジェームズ・マディソンが、心境を綴った。6日、イングランド代表は、マディソンとリバプールのMFカーティス・ジョーンズがユーロ2024に臨むイングランド代表のキャンプから離れることを発表した。

33名の候補メンバーが呼ばれた中、トレーニングキャンプを行い選手を選定していたガレス・サウスゲイト監督。登録期限は7日に迫っている中、徐々にメンバーが決まっているようだ。
ケガの状態を見極めている選手もいる中で、3日に行われたボスニア・ヘルツェゴビナ代表との親善試合には途中出場していたマディソン。しかし、一足先にチームを離れることとなった。

決定を受けたマディソンは、自身のインスタグラムを更新。ユーロ2024に行けない心境を綴った。
「打ちのめされたという言葉では足りない。今週はよくトレーニングをし、一生懸命取り組んだ。でも、正直に言えば、シーズン後半にケガから復帰した時のスパーズでの僕の調子は、おそらく自分が設定したレベルには達していなかった」

「それがガレスに決断を迫ったのだろう。自分は何か違うものをもtら焦ると思っていたし、ドイツでのユーロ2024の予選では主力だったから、26人のチームに自分の場所がまだあると思っていた。でも、監督が決断したことであり、それを尊重しなければならない」

「僕は必ず戻ってくる。疑いの余地はない。ドイツにいく選手たちの幸運を祈っている。信じられないようなメンバーで、文字通り僕の親友と呼べるような選手たちだ。サッカーが僕たちの元に戻ってくることを、心から願っている」

レスター・シティからトッテナムに今シーズン加入したマディソンは、ケガに悩まされる時期もあり、プレミアリーグで28試合に出場し4ゴール9アシスト。試合にこそ出場していたが、パフォーマンスが良かったとは言えない中で、残念な結果となってしまった。

頭部同士が激しく激突、動けず12分間も治療…担架で運ばれたイングランド女子代表DFにはスタンドから拍手

イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」

元ユナイテッドSDがFAに復帰…新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任

元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。 FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。 昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。 アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。 さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。 また、イングランド国内の地元出身のコーチの育成にも携わる予定だという。 2025.05.15 16:30 Thu
