アメリカ女子代表の監督にイングランド人指導者のエマ・ヘイズ氏(47)が就任した。
ヘイズ氏は2012年からチェルシーの女子チームを率いて、通算6度のWSL制覇を含む15個のタイトルを獲得。個人としては2021年のFIFA女子最優秀監督賞に輝いたほか、WSL最優秀監督賞も通算6度の受賞歴を誇る。
そんな女子サッカー界の名指導者は今月4日、今季をもってチェルシー女子チームの監督退任を明らかに。新天地としてアメリカ女子代表が大方の予想を占めるなか、14日の同国サッカー連盟を通じて就任が決まった。
来年5月の今季終了後から指揮を執り、7月末に開幕のパリ・オリンピックで金メダル獲得を目指すヘイズ氏は「世界のサッカー史で最も素晴らしいチームを指導する機会を大変光栄に思う」などと語った。

「このチームが大好き」敗退後に号泣の浜野まいかのチームへの思い…恩師でもあるアメリカ女子代表監督は「早くチームのところに行っておいで」と涙する中でのエピソードも
パリ・オリンピックを戦ったなでしこジャパンが5日に帰国。FW浜野まいか(チェルシー)が大会を振り返った。 浜野は大会全4試合に出場。2試合が先発、2試合がハーフタイムからの出場と、攻撃の軸の1人としてプレー。ナイジェリア女子代表戦では貴重な先制ゴールを記録した。 苦しい時期を過ごした中で、今大会はコンディションの良さを見せ、持ち味も出しながらプレーしていた浜野。大会を終えた今感じることは、「帰りたくなかったなというのが一番です」と、まだパリ五輪を戦っていたかったとした。 敗退から考えたことについては「まずこのチームが大好きなんだなと思いました。サッカーの本質である1人1人がお互いのことを思いやる気持ちだったりが、プレーに出ていました」と、なでしこジャパンというチームがより好きだと再確認したという。 準々決勝で敗れ、浜野は試合後にピッチに座り込み号泣。そこに寄ってきたのはアメリカ女子代表のエマ・ヘイズ監督だった。 昨シーズンまでチェルシーを指揮し、浜野も指導を受けた監督。浜野は「我慢してたんですけど…」と涙を我慢していた中、「最後に泣き崩れちゃって歩けなかったけど、『早くチームのところに行っておいで』と言われて、そこはエマらしいなと思いました」と、恩師から優しく言葉を掛けられたと明かした。 浜野は2023年のオーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)にもメンバーに選ばれていたが、肩を負傷して満足に戦力になれず、敗退後にはピッチで号泣していた。 今回も同じベスト8での敗退。ただ、「全然違いました」と感じ方は全く違うといい、「去年のW杯では肩のケガをしてしまって、その中でも自分の体と向き合いながらも、チームのために動くべきだということで、選手としても1人の人間としても難しい部分があったりして、ああいう形で負けてしまって悔しい思いでしたけど、今回はサッカー選手として足りなかったという悔しさがあります」と、単純に選手として負けたことが悔しかったという。 世界で渡り合うためにはまだまだ足りない部分が多い。浜野は「今回の大会で世界一というのは遠いようで近いようで。でも、手の届くところにはあると感じられました。この次のW杯は世界一になるためにまだ時間はありますし、ここからは自分と向き合える期間があります」と、しっかりと成長したいとし、「1週間後にはチームに戻りますが、新しい監督の下でのスタートになって、クラブチームでの戦いも始まるので、そこではしっかり浜野まいかで戦いたいと思います」と、自身をしっかりとアピールしてチャンピオンチームでもチャレンジして行きたいと意気込んだ。 持ち味も出せていた今回のオリンピック。浜野は「少しメンタルも成長したなと感じられる部分も多々あって、楽しくプレーできたというのは、本当に成長できたなと思います」と、成長を実感できた部分もあったという。 その成長には、アメリカのエマ・ヘイズ監督や、各国代表としてプレーするチームメイトの存在が大きいという。 「(チェルシーでの経験は)本当に大きいですね。チームメイトやエマの存在が凄く大きくて、自分を律してやらなければいけないところ。ああいう舞台では緊張なんて言ってられなくて、緊張という言葉に甘えずにやらなくてはいけないです」 自分を保ち、やるべきことに集中することを学んだという浜野。アメリカ戦では特に積極的にシュートを放っていたが、それもやるべきこととの判断からだったという。 「シュートを打たないと流れは作れないと思っていて、ボールを握っていてもシュートで終わらない部分があったので打ちました」 「もう少し周りを見れていればと後から見ればタラレバになりますが、成長したいです」と、プレー判断の部分はもっと成長したいと語った。 屈指の強豪クラブでプレーする浜野だからこそ、世界ともっと渡り合いたいという思いもある。「スペイン戦でもアメリカ戦でもボールを握られて守備から入るシーンが多かったので、次は日本の良さであるポゼッションとか、ボールを握ってゲームを支配できるようになって行きたいです」と、もっと主導権を握ってプレーして行きたいと語った。 その中では個々の成長はもちろん必要。FA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)には、同世代のFW藤野あおばがマンチェスター・シティに加入し、長谷川唯、清水梨紗と共にプレーすることとなる。 「イングランドの地で日本人と戦えることは楽しみです。今までも負けられなかったけど、もっと負けられなくなったというか、楽しみです」と、3人以外にも長野風花(リバプール)、宮澤ひなた(マンチェスター・ユナイテッド)、植木理子、林穂之香(共にウェストハム)となでしこジャパンのチームメイトが多くプレーする中で、どこまで成長するのか注目だ。 2024.08.06 06:45 Tue

「夢が叶った」左腕の一部がないピケットがアメリカ女子代表デビュー、史上初の選手に

女子選手の意見を参考に配慮し白パンツを中止、ナイキが女子W杯出場13カ国の新ユニフォームを発表!

コパ・アメリカの組み合わせ決定! 北中米6カ国も参加しアメリカで開催【コパ・アメリカ2024】
