12日に行われたユーロ2024予選グループA第7節で首位のスコットランド代表をホームに迎え撃った2位のスペイン。前半は0-0で動かすだったが、73分にアルバロ・モラタのゴールで均衡を破ると、86分のオイハン・サンセトに追加点が生まれ、2-0で勝利した。

戦前まで6ポイント差の両者だったが、今年3月の第2節で0-2と屈した相手にリベンジ成功のスペインは1つ消化試合が少ない状況で3ポイント差に。スペイン指揮官はセビリアでの一戦に「まずはあのような応援をくれたファンとセビリアの街に深く感謝だ」と話した。
そして、「前半は本当に激しかったが、自分たちが作り出すスペースを生かすため、(ハーフタイムの2枚替えで)変化を加えたかった。ゴールとアシストは2人の交代選手によるものだが、チーム全体によるものだし、それが結果に繋がったね」と総評を続けた。

「スコットランドはセットプレーに巧さがあり、スローインもあった。チャンスもあったが、我々も分析と準備をしてきたし、ゴールが生まれないなら、ただひたすらプッシュし続けるしかないと覚悟してもいた」
「うちには圧倒的なディフェンダーがいるが、次のノルウェーには大きなストライカーがいる。試されるだろう。その点において、今日の我々が無失点だったのは良いことだ」

ピケとアルベロアの問題についてカシージャス「場違いであり、不快だ」

終焉を迎えたレアル・マドリーのサイクル④～ベニテス体制プレイバック～

「まだ泣くの早いって」と本田圭佑にツッコまれた日本代表サポーター、元Jリーガーの親友だった「親友が世界的にバズってて最高」
