FIFA会長がイエローカード? レジェンドvs労働者の特別マッチ開催、主審の会長にカードを出されたのは!?

国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)が、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)の開催に貢献した労働者たちとのレジェンドマッチを開催した。初の冬開催、初の中東開催となったカタールW杯。残すところ4試合となり、終わりが近づいている。

開催までには多くの問題があったなか、いざ開幕すれば今度はピッチ状でもサプライズの連続。多くの成功と、多くの課題を残す大会とも言えるだろう。
そんな中、FIFAは24名の労働者に対して、ドーハにあるアル・トゥマーマ・スタジアムで一生に一度の経験をプレゼント。かつて各国の代表としてW杯でもプレーしたレジェンドたちとの試合を開催した。

今回参加した労働者は、8つのスタジアム、42のトレーニング施設に関連するプロジェクトの一部で、サッカーへの情熱、地域サッカープログラムへの関与、そして過去のワーカーズカップの参加に基づいて選ばれたとのことだ。
参加したレジェンドは、2006年のドイツ大会で優勝を経験している元イタリア代表FWアレッサンドロ・デル・ピエロ氏、DFマルコ・マテラッツィ氏や、2002年の日韓大会で優勝を経験している元ブラジル代表DFロベルト・カルロス氏、DFカフー氏、1998年のフランス大会で優勝を経験している元フランス代表FWユーリ・ジョルカエフ氏、元イングランド代表DFジョン・テリー氏などが参加した。

レジェンドvs労働者というエキシビジョンマッチでは、FIFAのジャンニ・インファンティーノ会長が主審を務める幕も。デル・ピエロ氏にイエローカードを出す場面も見られた。

ピッチで熱戦を繰り広げる選手や、監督、スタッフなど代表チームの関係者はもちろんのこと、スタンドやそれぞれの場所で応援するファン・サポーター、そして様々な場面で奮闘する労働者がいなければ成り立たないW杯。一生の思い出になったのではないだろうか。
