フランスは4日、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)ラウンド16でポーランド代表と対戦。現状のベストメンバーを起用し、3-1で勝利した。ポーランド戦に右サイドバックで先発したクンデだったが、前半終了間際の41分に思わぬ形でスポットライトを浴びることとなった。
クンデがスローインを投げようとタッチラインに向かった際、副審があることを指摘。クンデの首につけられていたネックレスを外すように指示したのだ。クンデはすぐにスタッフの手を借りて外し、すぐにプレーは再開していた。

このことでクンデにカードは提示されなかったが、直後にはチームメイトのFWアントワーヌ・グリーズマンから厳しい表情で声を掛けられる場面もあり、ファンからは「今グリーズマンに怒られた?」、「グリーズマン怖かった」と注目が集まった。
また、試合後の記者会見ではデシャン監督もクンデを叱っている。

「彼にはその権利がない。彼がチェーンに何をつけているかは知らない。ジュールにはちょっとした迷信があって、トレーニングでもつけているのは知っている」

「その意味はわからない。私は彼にこう言ったんだ--『君が私の前にいないのは幸運だよ、さもなければ......』とね」

「レフェリーから、プレーが止まった時点で、選手はブレスレットやネックレスをつけてはいけないと言われていた。時計やサングラスも禁止だ」

「許されないんだ。私は彼がネックレスを外しているのだと思ったが、そうではなかった」

仏代表落選のムバッペがパリに帰還…親友や元同僚と交流

相手が恐れる右手…ストライカーの完成形と呼ばれた男、アラン・シアラー

「ほぼマトリックス」「インパクトすごい」フランス代表DFクンデ、全身黒の私服コーデが話題沸騰!「オシャレすぎて真似できない」

「鶏デカすぎ」「ケンタッキーとのコラボか?」フランス代表の新ユニフォームにはビッグサイズのロゴが採用「巨大すぎない?」
