アーセナルのイングランド女子代表MFジョーダン・ノブスが美しい先制ボレーを決めた。27日、UEFA女子チャンピオンズリーグ(UWCL)グループステージ、グループCの第2節、アーセナルvsFCチューリッヒがエミレーツ・スタジアムで行われ、3-1でホームのアーセナルが勝利を収めた。

UWCLでの通算100試合目という節目となったアーセナル。序盤からボールを保持して機を伺い、ゴールレスで迎えた38分に試合を動かす。
左サイドの深い位置を取ったオーストラリア女子代表DFステファニー・ケイトリーから柔らかいクロスが送られると、ゴール正面に顔を出した背番号「8」が、バックステップを踏みながらも体を開いて右足のインサイドで面を作った丁寧なボレーシュート。これがクロスバーの下を叩いてゴールに吸い込まれた。

イングランド女子代表でも70キャップに迫ろうという主軸は、順当にいけば11月のなでしこジャパンとのメンバーにも選出されるだろう。ケガのために大舞台には恵まれず、2019年のフランスワールドカップ(W杯)、2021年の東京オリンピック、2022年の母国での女子ユーロには、ヒザや足首の負傷の影響で未招集。来年に控えるオーストラリア&ニュージーランド大会へ向け、調子を維持し続けることが期待される。
3点目にも起点となる縦パスで関与するなどしたノブスは、この試合のプレーヤー・オブ・ザ・マッチに選出され、アーセナルは2連勝でグループ首位をキープ。週末30日にはFA女子スーパリーグ(FAWSL)で、清水梨紗や林穂之香擁するウェストハムと対戦する。
