セルタの下部組織出身のホセルは、2009年にレアル・マドリー・カスティージャに移籍。トップチームでも1試合に出場した。その後、生まれ故郷のドイツに渡り、ホッフェンハイム、フランクフルト、ハノーファーを渡り歩き、ストーク・シティ、ニューカッスルとイングランドでもプレー。2019年にアラベスへ完全移籍した。

元セルタ主将マージョ、マスコットの女性に対する性的虐待で有罪判決…すでに控訴の意向表明
