第19回アジア競技大会(The 19th Asian Games)の男子サッカーは、ラウンド16が終了。ベスト8が出揃った。
パリ・オリンピックを目指す世代、U-22日本代表は、グループステージで連勝。ラウンド16ではU-24ミャンマー代表相手に7-0と圧勝し、ベスト8入りを果たした。
2010年の第16回大会では優勝を果たしている日本。2018年大会は韓国との決勝で敗れて準優勝に終わっており、13年ぶりの優勝を目指す。
日本の他、韓国、サウジアラビア、イランとアジアの強豪国は勝ち上がり、ウズベキスタン、中国、香港、北朝鮮も勝ち上がり。そんな中、準々決勝で日本は北朝鮮との対戦が決定。2014年には準優勝の成績を残している。
そのほか、韓国は中国と、サウジアラビアはウズベキスタンと対戦。イランは香港と対戦した。
日本は北朝鮮に勝利した場合、イランvs香港の勝者と準決勝で対戦することとなる。

リンパ腺腫瘍の治療を終えた元韓国代表DFチャン・ヒョンスが、アル・ヒラルに別れを告げた。
Jリーグでもプレーしていたチャン・ヒョンスは、2019年7月にFC東京からサウジアラビアのアル・ヒラルへ完全移籍。4年間にわたり、国内リーグ戦3連覇のほか、AFCチャンピオンズリーグ(ACL)で2度の優勝を経験するなど、チームに大きく貢献した。
だが、6月にリンパ腺腫瘍と診断とされ、ピッチから離れることに。同月末で満了となる契約の延長交渉に入っていたが、結果として満了の運びに。ただ、クラブは治療期間中の支援とサポートを約束していた。
8月に4回目の化学療法を経て、がんの再発を防ぐため放射線治療も終えたチャン・ヒョンス。今月21日、アル・ヒラルは公式SNSで思い出の動画とともに「お別れの時が来ました、ありがとうチャン・ヒョンス!」と綴り、改めてチームを離れる旨を発表した。
チャン・ヒョンス自身もインスタグラムにて「この4年間はとても貴重な時間でした、とても感謝しています。一緒に作った思い出や出来事は全部忘れません。本当にありがとうございました」と残し、アル・ヒラルへの感謝を言葉にした。

国際親善試合のサウジアラビア代表vs韓国代表が12日にイングランドのセント・ジェームズ・パークで行われ、韓国が0-1で勝利した。
前イタリア代表指揮官のロベルト・マンチーニ監督を招へいしたサウジアラビア。その初陣となったコスタリカ代表戦を1-3で落とし、目下5連敗中の中東の雄は今回の一戦で初勝利を目指した。
一方の韓国はカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)後にクリンスマン監督を招へいしたものの、就任以降3分け2敗の5戦未勝利とこちらも苦戦が続く。直近のウェールズ代表戦を0-0のドローで終えたチームはアジアのライバル相手に新体制初勝利を狙った。この試合ではエースのソン・フンミン、ディフェンスリーダーのキム・ミンジェに加え、ファン・ヒチャン、イ・ジェソンといったヨーロッパ組の主力がスタメンを飾った。
試合は立ち上がりから拮抗した展開となる。互いに後方から足元で繋いでいく能動的なアクションを見せるが、自陣や中盤で引っかかる場面が多く、中盤での潰し合いがメインに。
それでも、要所で個人技を見せるタレントが局面を打開し、フィニッシュまで持ち込んでいく。前半半ば過ぎには韓国がソン・フンミンのカットインからの左足のミドルシュートで決定機を作れば、サウジアラビアも直後にショートカウンターの形からアル・ドサリがボックス内でGKと一対一を迎えるが、ここはGKキム・スンギュの好守に阻まれる。
決定機を作り合ったことで、徐々に試合に動きが生まれると、30分過ぎに先制点が生まれる。32分、右サイドで仕掛けたイ・ジェソンが内側に入れたグラウンダーのパスを手前のソン・フンミンがスルー。後方のファン・インボムがバランスを崩しながら出したダイレクトパスがDFに当たって浮き球の形でゴール前のスペースに流れると、抜け目なく反応したチョ・ギュソンがゴール左隅へヘディングで流し込んだ。
良い時間帯に先制に成功した韓国は、直後にもボックス内に完璧な抜け出しを見せたソン・フンミンがあわやPKという場面を迎えるなど攻勢を継続。前半終盤にかけてもセットプレーやカウンターから決定機を作ったが、GKアル=オワイスの再三のビッグセーブに阻まれた。
1点リードで試合を折り返した韓国は後半も立ち上がりから攻勢を仕掛けていく。48分にはソン・フンミンからの絶妙なスルーパスに抜け出したイ・ジェソンがボックス内でGKと一対一のビッグチャンスを迎えるが、再びアル=オワイスが立ちはだかる。
その後もファン・ヒチャンの決定機がファインセーブに遭うなど追加点が遠い韓国だが、前半に比べてボール保持と守備が安定。後半はサウジアラビアにチャンスはおろかシュートまで持ち込ませずに、しっかりとゲームをコントロールする。
一方、苦境のマンチーニのチームは前線を中心に交代カードで流れを好転させようとするが、韓国の攻撃を防ぐのが精いっぱい。なかなか攻撃に厚みを出すことができない。
それでも、最少得点差のまま突入した試合最終盤はリスクを冒して前に出たサウジアラビアが、幾度か際どいシーンを創出。だが、新体制初白星に向けて気迫を見せた韓国がキム・ミンジェらの身体を張った守備でゴールを割らせず。
この結果、不振のアジア勢対決を制した韓国がクリンスマン新体制で待望の初勝利を手にした。一方、マンチーニ率いる新生サウジアラビアは前途多難な船出に。

清水エスパルスは29日、クラブOBの元韓国代表FW安貞桓(アン・ジョンファン)氏が9月3日に行われる明治安田生命J2リーグ第33節の徳島ヴォルティス戦に来場することを発表した。
安貞桓氏は、現役当時その端正なルックスから「韓国のベッカム」とも呼ばれ、大勢のファンを魅了。2002年の日韓ワールドカップ(W杯)でも活躍を見せ、日韓W杯後のフィーバーの最中に清水エスパルスに入団すると、2004年に横浜F・マリノスに移籍するまでの1年半の間活躍した。
徳島戦ではIAIスタジアム日本平に集まったファンたちに挨拶を実施するとのこと。挨拶後にピッチを1周しサインボールの投げ入れを実施する予定だ。
清水の発表には、ファンから「懐かしすぎる…!!!」、「イケメンFWくるーーーー!」、「めちゃ嬉しい!!」、「オ・セフン頑張るしかない!」、「会いたい!」と安貞桓氏の来場に驚く声が多く寄せられている。

韓国サッカー協会(KFA)は28日、9月代表ウィークのA代表メンバーを発表した。
来る9月のインターナショナルマッチウィークでは欧州に遠征し、2つの国際親善試合を戦う韓国。8日にカーディフでウェールズ代表と対戦後、続く13日にニューカッスルでサウジアラビア代表戦に臨む。
今回は25選手が呼ばれ、トッテナムのソン・フンミンとバイエルンのキム・ミンジェをはじめ、主力勢もメンバー入り。一方で、パリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)入りのイ・ガンインはケガにより、不参加が決まった。
また、キム・ジュンホン、キム・ジスといったU-20ワールドカップ(W杯)で活躍した若き才能が初のA代表入り。イ・スンミンも29歳で初の代表選出となっている。
