リーベル・プレートのアカデミー出身のアルバレスは2018年にファーストチームデビュー。2021年から本格的にファーストチームに定着すると、ここでストライカーとして才能が開花。スーペルリーガでは21試合で18ゴール7アシストという成績を残し、クラブの7年ぶりの優勝に大きく貢献。来季からマンチェスター・シティへの加入が内定している逸材だ。

2021年のコパ・アメリカで代表デビューを飾り、ここまで通算6試合に出場してきたアルバレスだが、29日に行われたカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)南米予選最終節では、すでに本大会行きを確定させていることもあり、代表初先発。24分には代表初ゴールもマークした。

試合は後半アディショナルタイムにエクアドル代表に追いつかれ1-1の引き分けに終わったものの、アルゼンチン『infobae』によると、アルバレスには多くの祝福コメントが寄せられたとのこと。その中で、少年時代のアルバレスとリオネル・メッシが一緒に写っている写真が大きな話題になっている。

アルバレスはまだ少年だった頃、当時からスターだったメッシと写真を撮ってもらっており、自身のインスタグラムに投稿。それから約10年、アルバレスの代表初ゴールを真っ先に祝ったのは一緒にピッチに立っていたメッシだった。

アルバレスはエクアドル戦後、ゴール直後のメッシとの抱擁シーンをインスタグラムに投稿し、この夢の物語の余韻を噛み締めていた。

メッシ大好きなマテ茶のストローは7万円超えの特別仕様

メッシと妻は30年来の仲、幼馴染の2人が結ばれW杯で優勝するまで

衝撃のトラップ! 24年前のW杯準々決勝、アルゼンチンを土壇場で撃墜したオランダ代表FWベルカンプのスーパーゴールが再脚光
