2年半疎遠も…代表復帰を目指すイアゴ・アスパス「諦めていないよ」

セルタのスペイン代表FWイアゴ・アスパスが、代表復帰へ意欲を燃やしている。

アスパスは2016年11月、フレン・ロペテギ監督の下で代表デビュー。2018年にはロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)にも招集され、1ゴールを挙げた。通算記録は18試合6ゴール6アシストとなっている。

しかし、2019年に行われたユーロ2020予選を最後に招集なし。昨季はラ・リーガで14ゴール、今季もここまで5ゴールを挙げているものの、代表の舞台からは約2年半遠ざかっている。
そんなアスパスは、スペインのラジオ局『Cadena SER』の番組“El Larguero”のインタビューに応じ、現時点での自身の置かれた状況を分析。その上で、代表復帰への意欲を語った。

「もし僕がルイス・エンリケだったら、今の自分を代表には連れて行かないだろうね。もっとうまくやっているチームメイトもいるけど、ユーロ2020前のシーズン終盤を振り返ってもそう思うよ」
「選手は皆、自分の心の中に監督を持っているものだ。その監督は、この代表ウィークに僕を連れて行くことはなかったと思う。でも、ユーロでは招集しただろうね」

「もちろん、なぜ代表チームに選ばれないんだと疑問に思うこともあるけど、復帰を諦めてはいないよ。[4-3-3]の場合、僕はウイングで起用されて、ゴールに向かって斜めに入っていくことになるはずだ」

セルタのエースFWが苦労したリバプール時代を回想、レジェンドを称賛「ジェラードは模範的なワールドクラスだった」

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン
