15日に行われたカタールW杯欧州予選グループCの最終節。首位のイタリア代表と勝ち点15で並び、得失点差で2位につけるスイスは4位のブルガリア代表をホームに迎え撃った。
前半こそブルガリアの守りをこじ開けられず、無得点に終わったスイスだが、後半に入ってから4ゴール。守りでも相手の攻撃を封じ込み、最終節を4-0の快勝で締めくくった。
そんなスイスは他会場で北アイルランド代表と0-0のドローに終わったイタリアの結果も受けて、逆転での首位浮上に成功。5大会連続12回目の本大会行きを決めている。

▽スイス・スーパーリーグに所属するチューリッヒの元コートジボワール代表MFジル・ヤピ・ヤポ(32)が、9日のアーラウ戦で相手選手から受けた悪質タックルで重傷を負い、現役引退を余儀なくされる見込みだ。イギリス『メトロ』が報じている。 ▽ヤピ・ヤポは、9日に行われたアーラウ戦の前半途中に競り合いの場面でリヒテンシュタイン代表MFサンドロ・ヴァイザーから足裏を見せた非常に悪質なタックルを受けた。その場面を映像で確認すると、トップスピードで突っ込んできたヴァイザーの右足がヤピ・ヤポの右ヒザの内側に食い込み、自分の体重と衝撃を支え切れなかった同選手の右ヒザは逆方向に曲がってしまった。 ▽その後、自力で立つことができず、担架に乗せられてピッチを去った同選手は、すぐさま病院に直行。精密検査の結果、右ヒザの前十字じん帯と内側側副じん帯、膝蓋腱(しつがいけん)の断裂に加え、半月板と右ヒザ周辺の軟骨組織に深刻な損傷を負ったことが判明した。この厳しい診断を受けて、復帰を諦めたヤピ・ヤポは近日中に現役引退の意向を表明する見込みだ。 ▽なおチューリッヒは、ヤピ・ヤポの選手生命を脅かす悪質なタックルを見舞ったヴァイザーに対して、損害賠償を求めて告訴する準備を進めているという。(写真:バーゼル時代のヤピ・ヤポ) 2014.11.12 20:01 Wed
