▽ストーク・シティのスイス代表MFジェルダン・シャキリは、ロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)グループE第2節セルビア代表戦でのゴールパフォーマンスについて、説明を拒否している。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が報じた。

▽ロシアW杯初戦でブラジル代表と引き分けたスイスは、22日にセルビアと対戦。初戦のコスタリカ代表戦を1-0で制していた相手に苦戦を強いられたものの、同点の場面で迎えた試合終了間際にシャキリがネットを揺らし、2-1での勝利を収めた。▽グループステージ勝ち抜けに向けて大きなアドバンテージを手にしたスイス。しかし、立役者となったシャキリが決勝点を決めた際のゴールパフォーマンス、両腕をクロスさせるジェスチャーに政治的意味合いが含まれていたとして、物議を醸している。

▽両腕のクロスといえば、東ヨーロッパではセルビアとアルバニアのシンボルとなっている“双頭の鷲”を連想させるものだ。セルビア人がアルバニア人を迫害してきたという歴史、そしてシャキリがアルバニア系の父親を持つという事実があるため、政治的主張である可能性は否定できない。

▽しかし、シャキリ当人は件のパフォーマンスは感情的なものの表れだったとし、多くを語らなかった。

「あれに関して思うことは、喋りたくないってことだ。フットボールでは、いつでも感情的になる」

「僕が何をしたかは見て取れただろうし、あれは感情的だった。僕はゴールを記録できて幸せだったんだ。僕はあれをしたけど、それに関して語る必要はない」

▽国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)からの処分が下る可能性もあると、各紙は報じている。シャキリの存在はチームの出来を左右する大きなものであるため、不用意な言動は控えたいところだ。
