負傷していたDFハリー・マグワイアの代役として、ユーロ2020グループDの第1節と第2節にフル出場したミングス。最終節ではマグワイアが復帰したために終盤の守備固め要員としての途中出場に留まり、決勝トーナメントでは1度も出番がなかったが、出場時には高パフォーマンスを見せてチームの準優勝に貢献した。
しかし、大会期間中は自身の実力に対するサポーターからの懐疑的な見方に悪影響を受けたと告白。心理学者に相談してなんとか乗り越えていったようだ。
「クロアチアとの開幕戦に至るまでは、苦しい時間を過ごしたよ。今は外部からの影響を受けにくくなっていると思うけど、あの時は精神的にかなり落ち込んだ。恥じる必要はないけどね」
「チームの中で 『あの選手はふさわしいのか』と思われていたのは、おそらく僕だけだろう。それを克服しなければならなかったよ」
「だから僕は、心理学者と一緒にその問題に取り組んだ。呼吸法や瞑想、今この瞬間に身を任せる方法など、さまざまな対処法を教えてもらったよ。潜在意識に支配されないようにするためにね」

一方で、クロアチア戦の無失点勝利に貢献したことに対して、代表のレジェンドであるリオ・ファーディナンド氏から嬉しい連絡があったことも明かしている。

元ユナイテッドSDがFAに復帰…新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任
元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。 FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。 昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。 アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。 さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。 また、イングランド国内の地元出身のコーチの育成にも携わる予定だという。 2025.05.15 16:30 Thu

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

ブリッジは“不倫男”テリーを未だに許さず? 自身の近くに引っ越し発覚後、自宅を売却に出す
