「勝利が何より大事」…ケイン、いまだ無得点も気にせず

イングランド代表FWハリー・ケインは自分がゴールを決められなくてもチームが勝っていればそれで良いようだ。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が伝えた。

ユーロ2020にてクロアチア代表、チェコ代表、スコットランド代表からなるグループDを首位で通過したイングランド。だが、攻撃陣はここまでFWラヒーム・スターリングの2ゴールのみと覇気を欠く。

なかでも、今季のプレミアリーグで3度目の得点王に輝いて今大会入りしたケインはいまだ得点なし。チームが勝ち上がったとはいえ、鋭さを欠く攻撃陣に向けた批判の矛先がケイン個人にも向けられ始めている。

しかし、ケインは気にしていないようだ。29日に行われるラウンド16のドイツ代表戦に先駆けた会見で自身の調子が注目される状況を尋ねられると、そうした周囲の見方を一蹴した。

「ストライカーには良い時期もあれば、そうじゃないときもある。でも、僕らは勝ちがついてきているし、それこそが何より大事だ。どんな形であれ、目的は勝ち進むことで、グループステージではそれができた。今回もそれが目標になる」

また、前回のユーロ2016ラウンド16でアイスランド代表に敗れ、敗退した過去についての質問も及び、ケインは「あの大会、特にあの試合に出た選手はもう数人しかいない」としながら、そうした苦い経験を生かしたいと話した。

「あのような試合での経験が将来的に成功するためのモチベーションを高まてくれることがある。あのような経験から学ぶことがあるのは、僕も他の選手たちもそうだよ」

スケッチャーズがサッカースパイク界に進出!契約第1号はバイエルン移籍のイングランド代表FWケイン
